Supporting Guitar Legend Albert Lee In Leeds – Photos

The word “legend” gets thrown around a lot but when you speak of guitar players the name Albert Lee certainly belongs into that category. He is one of the most respected and renowned guitarists in music history, having worked with some of the world’s top artists, from Emmylou Harris to the Everly Brothers, Dolly Parton to Eric Clapton. At Clapton’s request he also appeared at the star-studded Memorial Concert for George Harrison at London’s Albert Hall in 2002, and was featured alongside Sheryl Crow, Vince Gill and Eric Clapton at Eric’s 2007 Crossroads guitar festival. He is a member of Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings, and fronted the band at the O2 arena on the night of the Led Zeppelin reunion concert. Albert is a Grammy award winning musician, whose talents continue to be in strong demand.

He invited us to open up for “Albert Lee & Hogan’s Heroes” at the City Variety Hall in Leeds in May 2015. While Albert is known for his fingerstyle and hybrid picking technique, Gerry Hogan is an accomplished steel guitar / Dobro guitar player, who also has played with Emmylou Harris and The Everly Brothers. Together with their band they presented quite a unique musical experience, all set in this beautiful old variety theatre. It was a joy to share the evening with them.
