  1. “Hold tight songbird, ruffle some feathers you’re going to get hurt”
“See through the clouds passing under your wing, but you’ll never forget how to sing”.

So appropriate…thank you Mona and Lisa.

  2. The more I listen to this, the more captivated I am by Mona’s drums.
3:59 I realize I am concentrating on the drum track. It sneaks up on me and I feel like the teacher just caught me zoning out and I don’t know the answer to a simple question.

    Songbird takes me away.

    JP

  3. In the video the releasing of the balloon itself was a magical artistic moment, and the way the wind grabbed the balloon and whisked it away was so special too. My spirit soared away with it, up, up and away! A songbird takes flight. It also felt like the world needed this ray of beauty as if it filled a massive vacuum of artistic desolation. The universe snatched it as quickly as it was let go. I am sure the balloon found a good home, no environmental impact, and well worth it for the way it touched and moved people. ????????✨

  4. Wow hearing this song at first made me think of The Seekers a great Australian group from the 60s….Obviously The Seekers never sang this song because you just wrote it …but..in my mind I hear the fabulous voice of Judith Durham singing with Keith, Bruce, and Athol with the harmonies….now to write a song that reminds me of a super group performance tells me that you girls have just written a gem !!!

  5. What a lovely song! Such an ode to coming of age. I can see it becoming a staple at graduations.

I love how the melody and chord progressions take you flying, like you’re gliding through the air, following your beak.

The harpsichord/clavichord is really nice as are the drums and all the instruments, perfectly arranged. The voices and harmonies are the cherry on the top, every time.

This is turning out to be such a great album!

    ???? ???? ???? ???? ???? ????

  6. Thank you, dear Songbirds ! I see this great song reflecting your own live and your love in music. The future album is going to be your best so far. All the published songs are quality work.

  7. First Id like to say how much I enjoy the melody line of Songbird and the lyrics are deep and have meaning. It feels like a song that we can relate other things in life to. Once again you have created a wonderful piece of music that Ill enjoy over and over from now on! As always your voices are magic, your guitar skills are second to none, and the location of the video is so scenic, just a spectacular view. I thought the camera angle when Lisa releases the balloon was the perfect surprise ending. It kinda felt like I was drifting off into a happy place with the balloon!

  8. Wow I was almost spot on with the title I just added an S on the end when we had to guess the song title on day 11. I think it’s great and gets better every time you hear it. Congratulations and I love the video too????

  9. You’ve done it again. Yet another beautiful thing in an ever-growing collection of beautiful things. I’m really looking forward to the next CD release.

  10. Lovely song, lovely video! I guess you finally do know birds that well! Thank you for sharing your talents with us! and if I can add without seeming creepy you get lovelier looking every day!

  11. OH MY! Now this music at its best!! So beautiful and lovely!! Well worth the wait. Words, arrangement, video, harmony, guitar playing , drums , piano , this has it all folks. This takes me back to the early 1970’s when music was done right and not just thrown together like some music of today. This is one for the ages Mona and Lisa thank you so much for sharing and taking us along your musical journey.

    God Bless

  12. What a beautiful song. The harmonies and melody just pulls you in, and the lyrics are so uplifting and sweetly sung. Another reason why I’ll always be a loyal fan.

  13. I received a letter in the mail from England. Before I could stop myself I said, “HOT DOG”. It was the MonaLisa Twins.

So opened it and it was a Christmas card signed by Mona and Lisa. WoW. Ich liebst die MLT.

    Thank you, Mona
    Thank you, Lisa
    Thank you Team MLT

And a very Merry Christmas to you! I love this new tune, and getting this surprise.

  14. Oh, really beautiful singing!
    It’s so refreshing.

    Your songs are wonderful.
    Thank you.

I like the way you filmed us with the drone!
    It’s like being a bird.

I’m looking forward to more of your work!

  15. Hello Ladies, it is a real wonderfull song.I’m in love with your voices they are so unique.

And what ‘s about the instrument I hear in the background it sounds like a (we call it

Spinett in Germany ). It must be right. At the end I want to say, you got it,- another

little beautifull song. And your voices – one more time – they are unbelievable.

    Stay groovy

  16. Absolutely beautiful! The only thing more striking than the gorgeous scenery in the fantastic video is the beauty of the song itself. I don’t think I will ever be able to correctly describe how perfectly your voices melt into a uniquely special harmony. I am so looking forward to your new Album to come out!

  17. Ooo-oo-ooo-oo-ooo…. I agree, it’s really catchy! 🙂
Thanks for sharing this beautiful song! Looking forward to discovering more bits and pieces with every listen that is to come…

  18. A really lovely melody and as always sung so clearly with words that reflect the theme of the song. Also you can feel the sense of freedom that a bird enjoys from the style of filming. Be interesting to know if that was an old castle in the background on the hill. Can’t wait for the new album now!

  19. Wonderful song and composition. Love the moorland settings for it…paints an atmospheric picture for me. The video and guitar playing blend so well too. Absolutely love Songbird. Xx

  20. Beautiful song, beautifully sung and played. Really impressed by the filming – it seemed to complement the haunting tone of the song so perfectly with those ‘moody’ scenes and photography.

  21. A beautiful way to start the weekend! Original music at its finest in both sound and vision. Well done girls for another slice of melancholy magic ❤️

  22. You always have some splendid video production to go along with your beautiful music. Kudos all around to everyone behind the scenes as well as in front of the cameras.

  23. Wow Mona and Lisa, your new original leaves me speechless!

What an absolute work of art you created in Songbird, and the video perfectly complements it. It’s poetry expressing such a beautiful message and one that especially resonates with me, that through all of life’s harshness, love is all that we have left in the end to embrace.

The song has such an emotion grabbing melody, and your beautiful singing and harmonies continue to catapult me into an emotional journey through the song, and the mid-point keyboard run (what instrument is that, harpsichord, clavichord?) is like a sudden emotional explosion that elevates me to another level. Such beautiful elegance, it’s breathtaking.

The song fills me with joy, sadness, and a peaceful and graceful resolution by the end. The lyrics and video are so poetic, I had to write it out to absorb it all, and at the end in the video when the balloon is let go, and the wind carries it away, I felt a release of letting go of all the tension and pain, and felt a feeling of freedom and resolution prevail.

What a masterpiece! There is so much passion and longing in your music; such brilliant song writing. I love it!

And Lisa, just like in “I Bought Myself a Politician”, your acting is superb. Kudos! Your expression and the way you carried yourself in the video with the balloon, so natural and real, was heartwarming to see. I don’t think a professional actor to fill the role could have done better job. You both look amazing in the video! ????????

      1. Hi Diana. Absolutely would make and amazing movie soundtrack. I think many of MLTs music has the power to do that.. Hope some movie producers take notice.

  24. I can only add to the praise already expressed in the other comments. It surprises me how quickly some of your originals catch me immediately. Love at first listen is a rare quality but so many of your songs, including ‘Songbird’, have it. Bravo!

  25. That is such a beautiful song, songwriting at its finest. I know some of my students are gonna love this one so i might as well get to work, although listening to those chord progressions, i think im in for several hours work. Lol. Did Rudi come up with that little kind of renaissance solo? sounds beautiful and fits the song perfectly.

  26. I’ve been listening to the song since you dropped it. It is a beautiful song, your singing and playing is as good as it gets. But the lyrics “follow your heart, stay true to your word” jumped into my brain. It’s a mantra to live by!
By the way, where in England did you shoot the vid. It really looks like a peaceful place albeit it also looks cold.

  27. Oh gosh, I love this so much I really don’t know what to say! Just when I think I have heard every possible musical progression, pattern and iteration, you create a fresh and gorgeous new sound. Your musical creativity is absolutely second to none. Most impressive! I don’t know how you are creating such original and beautiful music but you continue to deliver musical treasures that are unique, universally compelling and sublime. It is so exciting to be connected, to whom I feel, is the most creative and marvelous musical entertainment group of this century! (Not to even mention the incredible videos!) Kudos all around!

  28. Well, we’ve heard about a third of the new album now, and so far each song has been absolutely lovely in its own unique way.

Man, at the end that balloon was in a huge hurry to go tell its friends about this one!

  29. While I have always truly loved your covers, I am at a loss for words (for me this is quite unusual) as to how beautiful and wonderful this original song is!

What is not to love about the harmony, the instruments, the arrangement, the scenery and oh yes, those lyrics? Well done ladies! Another MLT original hits it out of the park (American Baseball). As always, “Thanks For The Memories.”

  30. Hello Ladies!
Ince again you have outdone yourselves.
A beautiful Ballad made even more special because you both sing like “Songbirds”
Perhaps you do Know Birds That Well now.
Lisa Does Let Go Of The Balloon at the Very End! 1 Red Leuftballoon
Thank you so much Team MLT for such an Amazing Production. Breathtaking Scenery and those Harmonies that are to die for.
That Very Special MonaLisa Twins Magic is well and Alive with “Songbird”

  31. I need to get up early to go to work… it’s late at night and I can’t stop watching this video… ????????❤️❤️

  32. Superbly done…great camera work as well and beautiful scenery…but that’s exactly what we expect from MLT….I thoroughly enjoyed the video and newly written song…I kept waiting for you to let go of the balloon and then we’d have “up up and away”????❤️

  33. “Follow your heart and stay true to your word.” What beautiful lyrics, thank you so much for this wonderful song. If this is anything to go by, I can’t wait for the new album. You guys truly are a ray of sunshine in these times if such uncertainty, so again, thank you…

  34. I think we are all running out of adjectives to describe your new releases. That was wonderful – great song, great video with beautiful scenery!

The area looked familiar to me from a few of your previous videos (?) Wales?

  35. Ladies,
I think this might be your most complex melody so far.
    You keep growing.
Please tell us how you collaborated. And was Dad involved.
Looking forward to the live stream.
    Cheers

  36. I’m captivated by the melody and harmonies. This is perfection! The video is visually striking (love the red balloon). And to think they are only 27.5 yrs. with decades ahead. I’m just happy to be living in this moment.

  37. Thank you, Mona and Lisa! Beautifully done, as always. <3 And a really nice video 😀

Please, keep writing and recording original music – that is what makes you really different and unique; it’s your true identity as artists.

  38. The arrangement of this song is absolutely great and beautifully sung!! The video was so good, and I loved the piano. Well, you did it, you gave me my Christmas wish so I would like to thank you so much!! Encore!!!!!

  39. This is an absolutely captivating song! The video is also beautiful and perfectly matches the feeling of the music. Thank you for another outstanding production.

  40. Beautifully done, both the song and the video. I spent some time today listening to your random jukebox, and now this new song. It’s fun to notice not just the development of your music over time, but also how the ways you think and feel about life have gained depth and nuance. It makes me feel proud to “know you”, even if only in this very public, necessarily limited space.

And thanks so much for your lovely holiday card, which arrived today.

  41. The music is great, the photography is great, the scenery is great! Wishing you Christmas blessings. We love your painting too.

  42. Hi Mona hi Lisa… I just loved this song and the video…you are minstrel birds…this song brings me peace, joy…thank you…I think you could fly with that balloon spreading music through the air. . Loved it. and congratulations Papa Rudi, amazing video.. MLT team you all are fantastic. Stay groovy

  43. Simply SUBLIME, Ladies! Beautifully unique from any other MLT material yet! You keep proving over and over again your talent and artistry are limitless and increasingly diverse as well! Fitting the video features a slightly “sad'” Lisa, as it smacks of strong Cat Stevens influences. Lovely!

  44. WOW. that was a beautiful song. I have to play that again. Great scenery.
It was worth the wait , doesn’t get any better than that. Mona and Lisa, you’re going to be well known. One more time, or many more tonight!

  45. Rubber Soul feeling melody, fantastic as always Mona/Lisa harmonies, scenery and video production fabulous. Especially loved the drums and the harpsichord-sounding keyboard. Thanks for the early access – girls are as lovely as ever.

  46. Just Beautiful! Mona working overtime on those drums too and is that papa Rudi on the keys? Wonderful song girls! Wonder where that balloon ended up?

  47. Absolutely beautiful. Beautiful song, beautiful scenery! And a beautiful job on the drums! Beautiful harmonies, as usual! Great job Mona and Lisa! Filmed beautifully too.

  48. Newly discovered in the Rubber Soul archives, right? Just magical. Plus the video is spectacular, and the singers look particularly windblown and breathtaking too. Suspenseful cliff scene.

  49. Absolutely Luv this song, purely Magical, Whimsical, Soothing , Unique yet distinctively has your #MLTBuzzLuvGroovified Essences about it, Kudos to another fab music creation, for the perfect video location in which it compliments the song intertwinely with the lyrics most heartfelt and beautifully done , Thankyou, this is a beyond a Thumbs Up ????????????

  50. Love what you did with the drums Mona! And such tight harmonies through some very complex passages. And is that Rudy on a harpsichord?!? Amazing song! I become a fan all over again every time you give us a new song!

  51. Beautiful melodic and well constructed song which has all the traits of what makes MLT so good! Love the video too, so well produced and shot.

  52. Nice tune; and it turned out to be a nice video render and edit. Good resolution. It looks and sounds as good as MLT’s cover of Morning Has Broken. VERY proud of Team MLT!

I think everyone should show their support. I’m ordering the last CDs to complete the entire set.

I couldn’t think of a better Christmas present for all of us. THREE CHEERS FOR THE MONALISA TWINS!

      1. Thanks, Jung.

        Three cheers for the Twins.

Hot dog I located a song I was looking for. It’s the tune, Three Cool Cats. I could only find the Anthology alternate take version though, which is OK I guess. I’m looking for the other Decca take of this song from January 1, 1962. I used to own a copy of the best take way back when, and it’s a little bit better sounding take than the fragmented Anthology version. There is some mystery surrounding whatever happened to the original master Decca tape.

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2nOrAJTu3R4

It seems like I remember there being a live Hamburg version of this song perfomed by The Beatles. I’ll have to check.

  53. I hope the music lovers of the 2020’s are ready for this incredible blend of a 1960’s-type melody with substantial lyrical depth and a video presentation that simply wasn’t done long ago. Count me “in” on a purchase of the new album when it is available! Well done!

  54. A masterpiece! The music, the lyrics, the scenery, the cinematography, all just beautiful.
The balloon at the end flying away so much more visually exciting and meaningful than the balloon just rising up in the sky…
Luv, luv, luv it! It sure lifts up ones spirit! Thank you so much! 🙂

  55. Awesome!!! Love It????
You ladies never disappoint,a beautiful song, great harmonies, beautiful scenery.I can’t wait to hear what’s in store for us on the upcoming record. And I am enjoying my daily dose of Mona & Lisa, via the Advent Calendar!!

    Love to Team MLT????????

  56. Everything about this song is beautiful. The song, the melody, the harmonies, the singing, the instrumentation, the performer and the scenery. It reminds me of the “Nowhere Man/You’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away” phase of the Beatles. It was worth the wait.

  57. Wonderful song! Beautiful! An emotional release at the end in the video when you let go of the balloon. I recall our first grade teacher showing us the Red Balloon movie at school, would have been about 1966. You girls really do have a remarkable connection to the 60’s! Anyway, another great song from my favorite twins!! Thank you!

    1. I recall the same film being shown when I was in elementary school. I think it was produced by the National Film Board of Canada, and I thought immediately about it, as you did.

  58. Wow. Beautiful lyrics, melody and harmonies. I agree with Dan, an instant favorite, and another reason I’ll be eagerly awaiting the next album! A pretty spectacular shooting location, too — where is that? Kudos to both of you on another amazing song and video.

  59. Easily the most complex, detailed, mature song you’ve written. There’s a lot going on that will take several listens for me to fully appreciate, but it’s easily, instantly one of my very favorites.
