About the Song
“The Last Time” from the album “MonaLisa Twins play Beatles & more” was The Rolling Stones’ first British single. Although the song is credited to Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, Richards has mentioned that it was based on a traditional gospel song called “This May Be The Last Time”, recorded by “The Staple Singers” in 1955. It was the band’s third UK single to reach #1, spending four straight weeks at the top of most of the numerous UK music charts.
“Of course we wanted to have a Rolling Stones song in our live repertoire as well, and so we picked “The Last Time” as we think it fits Mona’s voice very well and we like the groove. To make it a bit more rock’n’roll-y, we played it a mite faster than the Stones in their original version.”
