About the Album

MonaLisa Twins Play Beatles & More” is a cover compilation of world-known songs from the 60s era. It contains a lot of Beatles songs but you’ll also find covers of the Rolling Stones, the Beach Boys, Chuck Berry, the Easybeats, Buffalo Springfield and Janis Joplin on the album.

“Over the last years we have built up quite a stack of YouTube videos, as well as a big live repertoire of cover songs that we perform regularly. We recorded some of them as studio versions where we were able to play more than one guitar each, sing multiple harmonies and on which Mona plays drums and percussion and Dad does the bass. For our live shows, however, we play in the classical 60s band setting with 2 guitars, drums and bass and 2 – 3 voices, sometimes joined by the Ukulele (Lisa) and the blues harp (Mona).”

Depending on the type of recording you’ll notice differences in the arrangements. There are studio recordings mixed with live performances and even some acoustic duo recordings, like Buffalo Springfield’s “For What It’s Worth”.

Many tracks on the CD have been on the MonaLisa Twins YouTube channel for years, while others have not been published anywhere before. People from all over the world discovered them by searching for covers of their favorite songs and then kept following the Twins’ musical career. Maybe you’re one of them!

Fans kept asking if they could buy the music somewhere. Some wanted to use it for their weddings or funerals. Music teachers use their covers for their lessons, dancers for their choreographies, … So the MonaLisa Twins team finally decided to produce this cover compilation before the girls started writing and recording new originals.

  1. Chris Weber (verified owner)

Mona and Lisa pay homage and give respect to some of the greatest music of the last 60 or so years in this 3 album set. This is volume one and is loaded with great covers. A worthy first album in the set, they do such an amazing job of keeping these great songs alive where they belong. These are wonderful albums; they are so great at covering these with great arrangements and harmonies, and their obvious joy in playing music that they love.

    I love that music too.

  2. tim arnold (verified owner)

One of the things I really like about the Beatles and More Volume 1 is the many live versions of some great songs, done for the most part by the first MonaLisa Twins live stage band with Michael Mozeth on bass and Philipp Wolf on drums. That was a great band and it really shows on this album.

  3. Doug (verified owner)

    More more more please.

  4. David O’Keeffe (verified owner)

This and the two subsequent issues are wonderful stuff, these girls don’t just cover songs, they put their stamp on them,
I own all their issues now,but listen to these three really regular, I love all they do and look forward to new things in the future, their song June is magnificent.

  5. Dave Johnston (verified owner)

Have all 3 now and listen to them often!! I continue to let everyone know about the MLT’s and the great community of music lovers that follow and support them. Guaranteed to bring a smile of joy to your face, an occassional tear and just so much goodness!!

  6. Paul Ledsham (verified owner)

The Beatles sold millions of albums and one of the main reasons for this is that song writing was their great strength. MLT have a knack of putting their own unique interpretation on great songs by 60’s (and 70’s) artists and breathing new life into them. Their musicianship is fantastic. They can play their instruments, they sing wonderful harmonies and their love of the music shines through.

I have all three volumes of ‘MLT Play Beatles and More’ and if you enjoy the first one you’re bound to appreciate the other two, as they’re very consistent. One thing I really like about the CD’s (or downloads) is that they include the odd live track, which highlights just how good MLT are in concert. So many later-day artists hide behind pre-recorded backing tapes – they don’t.

  7. Tim Arnold (verified owner)

Amazing album. I grew up in the 60’s listening to this music. Thank you girls for breathing new life into all these classic songs.

  8. Kevin Smith (verified owner)

These are fantastic albums. I love your versions as much as I love the originals. I’m so glad I came across your music! Every word out of your mouths is clearly heard by the listener, which is something you rarely get these days. Highly recommended to anybody that wants the sounds of yesteryear, today!

  9. Rory Heynemann (verified owner)

I was hesitant to get these albums at first. That was silly. This is a wonderful collection of songs “MonaLisafied” (just coined that term) to perfection. A real joy to listen to. ‘People Are Strange” was a stand out for me as I was unfamiliar with that song. 🙂

  10. Cheryl Sims (verified owner)

Just love their versions of Beatles and others. Well done

  11. Frank Kok (verified owner)

I just love it. Thank you

  12. Gareth Evans (verified owner)

Astounding album by fantastic artists . really , really glad I learnt about the Mona,Lisa twins amazing ladies.

  13. Diane Strahm (verified owner)

I bought the Beatles bundled set because I love the Twins’ renditions of the Beatles I heard on Facebook or YouTube. Turns out, I absolutely LOVE the “and more” songs, as well. Being a baby boomer, most of them are from that 1960’s era of my life. Great hits, great memories – I am delighted with my purchase!

  14. Hermann Fleischhauer (verified owner)

I have become big in the 60s – with “Friday on my mind” (even played in 1966 with the student band) and I love the music, like Mona and Lisa, who interpret this great, exciting and beautifully. They impress with the best musical work, in addition to their excellent singing also through a clean, appealing instrumentalization, like Lisas Leadguitar. My collection is now completed by your CDs. Clear recommendation.

  15. Thomas Bockerstette (verified owner)

I bought the ‘bundle’ of all 3 CDs, and love every one of them. I grew up in the era of The Beatles and still love their music. I love the fact that Mona and Lisa really embrace that music as well, and I really enjoy their covers of the Beatles songs. Brilliant harmonies, excellent musicianship, very cool arrangements, very nicely done overall. Terrific CDs! In addition to the Beatles covers, all of the other covers are nicely done too. I especially enjoy the John Sebastian cover on CD #3, I was a big Lovin’ Spoonful fan back in the day.

  16. Tom Watson (verified owner)

Love this album! I have all three now and they are all fantastic. You are magic! Thank you so much!

  17. Mats Rydberg (verified owner)

A very good album and a very nice version of George Harrsions “While My Guitar Gently weeps”…

  18. Mats Rydberg (verified owner)

The twins version of George Harrisons “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” is fantastic, I really like this album…

  19. Yves Guillon

After listening to the Mona Lisa twins at the Cavendish and Orange I was converted

  20. Micky Thomas (verified owner)

I just received my first CD last week, MonaLisa Twins play Beatles & More #1, and I love it !! I will be ordering #2 & 3 very soon !!

  21. John Jacob

I love these girls. Extraordinary talent plus they are Hot! I wish I could have seen them at the Cavern Club but I adore them on youtube!! Someday I hope to meet them. I would love to hear them record “I wanna hold her hand” in german (or Austrian) like the Beatles did . Lisa and Mona make this old music new again for new generations and me as well. Love you two. Thank You so so very much for being You. You make me smile! ???? Quite groovy baby!!

  22. Mike Lyons (verified owner)

I make these comments to cover all THREE MLT “Play Beatles and More” cd’s because after hearing one there was no way that I wouldn’t buy all of them!
What great talent. I have seen several of the artists they are covering ( Chuck Berry, McCartney, Beach Boys, Simon and Garfunkel, Kinks ) and I am astounded how MLT can produce covers that are both faithful and respectful of the originals while adding a palpable freshness. What a enormously diverse songbook to have and it gets even better when the live sessions are added. Is that a flute or cello being used on Dylan and Clapton songs?
Let’s face it, these ladies can have a quiet reflective moment and then ROCK!!
Now lets see what they can do with a Moody Blues track- but there are soooo many artists that they could cover, but still write their own wonderful originals ( yes, I bought Orange and When We’re Together as well.

  23. Melvin Schofield (verified owner)

Having got into the MonaLisa Twins through some of their more recent studio recordings, the live cuts on the CD are a revelation. These girls can really rock! Some impressive “heavier” cover selections too, such as the Doors’ People Are Strange and Buffalo Springfield’s For What It’s Worth. So good to hear these great vintage songs brought to life again. Rock on Ladies!

  24. Bertil Persson (verified owner)

It warms an old rock and pop soul to hear this music. The girls are very true to the concept of The Beatles and other artists of the sixties and still it’s not just a cover. They put in their own twist into the tunes. I can listen over and over again!

  25. Arthur Bentley (verified owner)

I was a young man in the Beatles era and I love your covers of that era. You are very talented and versatile young ladies and harmonise so beautifully. You are lovely young ladies and it is a real pleasure to watch you on video. I have three of you cds and am enjoying them very much. Thank you very much for the pleasure I have had from your performances. I pointed you out to my grandson who is a musician and he really enjoys your music too.

  26. Joseph Manzi (verified owner)

I discovered Mona Lisa Twins about a month on You Tube. I could not believe how they preformed these classic’s from the 60’s. They have their own style. Since they are from Austria they have this cute unique accent when they sing. Sounds great!!! I consider Mona & Lisa Renaissance women.
They play a lot of different instruments. Lisa and Mona are very talented. On this Cd they cover
Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the Beach Boys, Chuck Berry, the Easybeats, Buffalo Springfield & Janis Joplin. That’s pretty amazing. I love their rendition of For What It’s Worth. One of my favorites all time songs. There isn’t a bad song on this cd. I wish you the best.

  27. Will Beard (verified owner)

This is my 2nd MLT “PLay Beatles” cd, bought Vol 2 first. I have never owned a Beatles album (odd for a 70+ yea old I know). I am more of the Doo Wop and surf generation. That being said I am absoultely hooked on MLT music, how they honor the Beatles arrangements while bringing their own harmony and energy. I play n 2 groups, you can tell when the players enjoy what they are doing and like who they are playing with. These ladies love the music and being together and boy does it show. Vol 3 has been ordered and is on it way.

  28. William samboy (verified owner)

Super talented twins, love to watch and listen….

    • Roger Meierotto (verified owner)

Always have been a Beatles fan and this is a very nice twist to their music. Well done!

  29. John Biggs (verified owner)

I purchased volumes 1, 2 and 3 of the Mona Lisa Twins Play the Beatles. I also purchased the Christmas Album and the short California Dreaming album. If you are a Beatles fan, you will love these albums. The Twins have put their own musical expression in each song, and it’s great. This was a purchase that was well worthwhile. I would add that when I had questions, the Shop answered quickly and I appreciated how professionally they responded! Thanks!!

  30. Michael Jones (verified owner)

Great job on all these songs, surprised by the variety of artists you covered here! This is the type of music one can listen to over and over again, I know I do!

    Stay groovy MLT!

    Mike

  31. Larry Danastorg (verified owner)

It always surprises me when I find young people who say ‘Yes, I know who the Beatles are’. They not only know the Beatles as a legendary band but also know their importance to music history in the 1960’s and beyond. MLT appreciate and express their enjoyment for the Beatles through their own interpretations of the Beatles music and other 1960’s stars. Not only groovy but so very cool.

  32. Zoltán Tóth (verified owner)

I got the CD-s I really like the songs, thank you so much.

  33. Carl Wilder (verified owner)

I remember when the Beatles came to America. It was a new fresh sound. Mona and Lisa have made these songs sound greater than ever. Putting their own style into such classics and still keep the awesome sounds of the 60’s is pure genius.

  34. Jerry Gilmore (verified owner)

Had first discovered you on Facebook. Ordered Orange and Beatles volume 3. Loved those. So ordered this CD and Volume 2. Love your renditions of the Beatles songs and the other artists too. Grew up with and remembered all these songs. Need to order When were together next. Love you two. How come I had never heard of you?

  35. Kenneth W. Wenninger (verified owner)

I happened by chance to catch the MonaLisa Twins playing “Drive My Car” on YouTube and was smitten. “I Saw Her Standing There” was next and before too long I had to order their CDs.

There is an energy evident in the live performances that is infectious. I always keep a few of The Twins’ CDs when I drive my car. Beep beep m’beep beep, yeah.

  36. John Turnbull (verified owner)

I bought the 3 CD bundle off the back of their YouTube covers. Their arrangements are so refreshing, harmonies so beautiful, muscianship outstanding, full of emotion, even better than the originals at times. Their video’s and live performances are breathtaking, can’t even count the number of times I’ve watched “Bus Stop” outstanding. Would love to see them live. Wish I’d hit on them years earlier. Will definitely be purchasing their original CD’s. Keep up the great work, thanks so much.

  37. Dane (verified owner)

Beatles were the best in the 60’s. I lived through the years that these songs were made. The Twins do the best job of replicating them that I’ve seen, and they put their own womanly twist on them. I bought the 3 CD set and every one is really good. The only problem I have so far is figuring out who is Mona, and who is Lisa…

    • William Dodd (verified owner)

Great stuff!! Mona is the cute blond, Lisa is the cute redhead!! Love them both!

  38. Edward Pasciak (verified owner)

Awesome! Music is great. Always been a Beatles fan. I’ve heard a lot of covers, but I think you are by far the best. I also very much loved the other covers as well as you own originals. Thank you!

  39. Robert Kleijn (verified owner)

I love to hear the versions of the Beatles played by the Mona Lisa Twins. I surely love to buy more albums in the near future.

  40. William E. Kellems (verified owner)

I have always like the Beatles songs every since they came out. ( I’m old lol) You were great.

  41. Steve Fowler (verified owner)

I never really enjoyed the Beatles…. until I heard their songs by MonaLisaTwins. This brought a whole new dimension to the songs, and are very easy on the ears (and the eyes !). Keep it up, you’re doing just great !!

  42. Gordon Parmenter (verified owner)

Hi MonaLisa, I had the pleasure of seeing you cover the Beatles on YouTube and I was hooked. Now I have three of your Beatles CDs, plus Orange (still a friend of mine is hauntingly beautiful) and also the Christmas collection is fantastic, as I said I’m new to the club so still exploring.
    Thankyou for everything
    Gordon?

  43. Richard Worbey (verified owner)

I love your music and you are a breath of fresh air. I bought the album after discovering you on Youtube. I am a Beatle fan but have come to like your own work, your songs are beautifully written and your playing skills are exceptional. Your Beatles “This Boy” is superb. Might buy the new Christmas album. Good luck for the future.

  44. Kevin Brockway (verified owner)

I was 9 years old in 1963 when the Beatles first appeared on the Ed Sullivan show and I immediately wanted to be a Beatle. 56 years later, I’m still working on it. Your rendition of their songs and all of the 60’s music you do, including your own is so inspiring!! You’re my favorite band, next to the Beatles 🙂

  45. Peter Palestino (verified owner)

I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this . Seeing as how I grew up on the Beatles . But I haven’t stopped listening to it yet . It is a very refreshing ? . The harmonies are on point and it is a very relaxing collection of songs . You have a new fan ??????

  46. John Behle (verified owner)

“ The MonaLisa Twins are extremely talented musicians and performers. Their covers of 60’s songs are great. I can’t think of one I don’t like better than the original. I found them through a search for Beatles songs on YouTube. I hesitated to click on a couple young girls with guitars tackling “Drive My Car” only to realize The Terrific Twins beautiful voices are every bit as good as the Fab Four – and then some. Each new song and video was like opening bigger and better Christmas presents as a kid.

Then as I discovered their original music I was equally impressed. Excellent songwriting and musical skills combined with humor, and their pure joy are wonderful to hear and watch. I’d recommend their music to anyone and everyone. Their CD’s have become my go to gift for for those struggling with health or other issues. Over the last few months of getting to know them, Mona, Lisa and their family have impressed me more than anyone in the music industry. They radiate joy, happiness, humor and kindness.

If all the bands and musicians that now are or ever have been were having performances on the same night, I wouldn’t think twice about choosing the MonaLisa Twins as the concert to go to. If I were to be trapped somewhere and could only choose a few CD’s to listen to, it would be theirs. “

  47. Christian FRANCIS (verified owner)

I have only recently discovered your band on Youtube but I must admit that you are just great ! So I decided to purchase your 3 CDs upon Beatles songs.
For the moment i just had time to listen to the first one but I don’t have any fear : the two others are also very good. Listening to you I just feel like if we could have been at The Cavern Club, back in the early 60’s !
It a great pleasure to hear young ladies playing these old songs and they seem to me always to be so modern.

So, to conclude, I think that I will have soon a look to your others CDs.

  48. Darryl (verified owner)

After watching many of your YouTube videos, I purchased Beatles & More Vol 1-3. I’m now listening to your original songs and finding them just as appealing as your cover songs. According to some sources, current music has lost much of its richness in favor of popularity. I’m glad you can produce rich and popular music. I plan to purchase more of your music on CD.

I think both of you are very charming and I find your family oriented business most pleasing. I hope all of you continue producing this style of music.

  49. Dave Coy (verified owner)

I just love the music, but even more I admire and respect ALL the hours, weeks, months and years of Extremely hard work and dedication to their craft!! All the work, efforts and long long hours to get here are well worth it and beyond!! You girls are AMAZING!!!!

  50. Shawn Hawley

Great, great, great! Real fab tracks! This is the way music was meant to be heard. I hope both of you take the world by storm!

  51. Michael Schramm (verified owner)

I love this CD – wonderful voices, a lovely atmosphere, thank you very much for your work!

  52. Dana Hart (verified owner)

You will see this review under all 3 volumes of PB&M as they all are superb and the review of this one is equal to the review of the other 2 volumes.

What amazing talent. You hear many covers on YouTube and there always seems to be that ‘something’ missing. The missing items are love and passion for the music. You can hear and feel the love and passion on the MLT versions.
The originals were perfect and MLT remain true to them. If you like the original songs you will love these albums and are a must have.
They are breathing new life into these classics.
Put these MLT albums on the stereo, sit back and relax and let MLT take you away…

  53. François (verified owner)

Ever since I’ve received my overdose (CDs 1 2 and 3 of Play Beatles) of Lisa and Mona’s (figured it’s time to change the order of the names, if only once) interpretations of the Fab Four’s music, I’ve been wondering why this is so captivating. And then I understood. The Beatles released these unique songs when they were in their 20s. And here are the Twins, also in their 20s, giving these songs the energy, the vitality with which they had originally been released.
Five decades ago, the Beatles reoriented my understanding of music. The LisaMona (dyslexia?) Twins give a welcome new colour to the music I grew up with. Thanks, Ladies.

  54. Trevor Gibbs (verified owner)

An excellent band as someone who was there at the same time as the Bettles I think your style makes the music better . Thanks

  55. Tomás F. Calvo (verified owner)

Not just a collection of favorite classics. Understated, real genius performances that stand tall next to these monster all time classics. These performances stay close to the originals while providing a fresh and uplifting take on the golden era of 20th century music.

MonaLisa Twins come out of this endeavor unscathed, matching the grittiness of the originals like in “Revolution” and “Drive My Car”, while keeping all the softness and beauty of towering classics like “God Only Knows”. Coming out unscathed after taking on such monster songs, which hide a depth of complexity under a veneer of simplicity, is an accomplishment that cannot be understated.

Who can take on Janis Joplin, The Doors, The Rolling Stones, and even The Beatles and stand tall after such performances? Well, the MonaLisa Twins can, and Paul McCartney can as well, but it’s a very short list. For the rest of us, we get the albums, sit back, relax and enjoy the music for our ears.

  56. George Paine III (verified owner)

This was a fantastic album & a great intro to one of the best bands I’ve ever heard. Every song on this album is great & my personal favorite is While My Guitar Gently Weeps which is also my 2nd favorite George Harrison song.

  57. Howard (verified owner)

Perfect covers here from the MonaLisa Twins. I can only endorse what other reviewers have already said in previous posts. It’s great to hear Beatle’s and other sixties music brought to life with such care and passion. This is a must for your MLT collection.

  58. Rick Grenier (verified owner)

I have been a Beatles fan my whole life and you girls have just made me fall in love with their music all over again. Keep on keeping on girls. Love your music!

  62. Allen Marcus

Love their renditions od Beatles songs. Timing and harmony outstanding.

  63. MARCIO ARROYO

    Really amazing both albums.
MonaLisa Twins play Beatles and more is a very pleasurable because the songs are wonderful, but the performance shows the great talent of MonaLisa Twins!

    Orange
No doubt, you could expect a great album, but it was more amazing, to be heard always, I really appreciated it. The music “Still A Friend Of Mine” is my reference!

  64. James Lythgoe (verified owner)

I agree that the 60s had the greatest music, and I’m glad Mona Lisa Twins are adding their own style to it. The Beatles songs are done stylishly- best I’ve ever heard! The others were good too. To be honest, The Buffalo Springfield song “For What it’s worth” was not my favorite, although it was done well. It just didn’t fit in with the positive vibes of the rest of the collection. Generally speaking, I don’t care for CSN&Y in any combination. Everyone has their own tastes though. I’m looking forward to hearing more by the wonderfully talented Mona Lisa Twins! My order arrived here in the US very quickly too! I’m very satisfied. Keep up the good work 🙂

  65. Mark Mazuroski (verified owner)

The cd’s are great. I love the new songs. The cover songs sound great.

  66. Stephen Krogh (verified owner)

These ladies have brought their incredible talent, excitement, professionalism and joy to the music I grew up with and loved so much. I LOVE listening to them perform this awesome collection. It really is a celebration! Can’t get enough. Bravo! Bravo!

  67. Tim Kiurski

The music is great. It feels vulnerable and not overproduced. Very good quality!

    • Tim Kiurski

I ended up getting the digital download package including videos and tons of music. By far my best playlist! Again… raw, real, and vulnerable! Great stuff!

  68. David Brandenburg (verified owner)

I loved the Beatles growing up and these covers make this music exciting again. I have never heard these songs done in such a way that it is like it is all new. The harmonies are so close you think it is impossible. The instrumentation is right on and they play most of the instruments. Don’t wait a second order their albums and enjoy these songs. It is definitely a treat.

  69. Francis Chamness (verified owner)

These are great covers. A lot of the cover songs are better than the original, in my opinion. I love this album.

  70. Ed Brown (verified owner)

I first found Mona and Lisa on You Tube with the first video I watched being their amazing cover of “God Only Knows”. That Beach Boy classic is one of my top 5 songs of all time and I was completely knocked out by the MLT version. It was very respectful and so smartly done as Papa Rudi produced it very sparingly concentrating on the girls beautiful vocals, guitar and ukulele. it works on every level and completely captivated me.

Of course my very next move was to go to the MLT YouTube channel to see what else was out there. I spent the rest of the evening digesting and thoroughly enjoying their cover versions of Beatle songs and other classic 60 tunes. I was so pleased to see they had done wonderful covers of “Drive My Car”, “In My Life”, “Blackbird”, “In My Life” and on and on. I remember thinking to myself how I wished some of these songs would be on a CD for me to enjoy and share with my friends.

Well sure enough when I logged into their website for the first time I found this classic CD. The song selection is so well thought out and the production is top notch, showing not only the girls’ talents but also allowing the sparkle of their personalities to shine though. You can tell they are true fans of the songs they play and the excitement of their performances bursts out of the speakers. All the songs I mention above are included on the CD along with strong versions of Buffalo Springfield, Janis Joplin, Doors and Stone classics. It is the type of CD to enjoy with any celebration or on those days when you need a little pick me up. A smile is guaranteed to come to you!

To close one of my big hopes is to someday see the Twins live, as I know it will be an amazing experience. Until then I have this CD to listen to and dream about the day when that will come. 🙂

  71. Jacki Hopper

First off, this CD is definitely a must-have keeper complimentary companion for your MLT MUSIC COLLECTION….YOU GOTTA HAVE IT !!
This particular collection of both LIVE and STUDIO recordings of covers not only resonates and amplifies your musical ear hearing pleasure, it can be known to cause singing along, toe tapping, air guitaring and /or drumming, etc . With shared lead vocal duties from Mona and Lisa, and then a full band on the live stuff this is quite stellar. You truly feel as though you were at the shows( perhaps some of you were 😉 ) and/or in studio witnessing such fine musicianship . You will be infinitely satisfied , lifetime guaranteed with this CD .

    Now onwards to the review:

#1~ ” REVOLUTION : Simply WOW on this …..The MLT take on this one, just sends goosebumps of sheer bliss up my spine. The full power of all the instrumentations, predominately the guitars and vocals, well that in itself, is enough , no further commentary necessary…

#2~ ” FRIDAY ON MY MIND ” : Though I was not familiar with this particular song, I loved it from the get-go and afterwards looked up original, Hands down , I prefer MLT’s rendition of this. Again, full bodied sound and it shows, Awesome !

#3~ ” JOHNNY B. GOODE” : OK, ADMIT IT, COME ON NOW, who after or even while listening to this found themselves singing along, air guitaring, etc…it’s hard not to be tempted, they’ve done Chuck Berry proud on this. Quite masterful guitar efforts put forth here and equally done so in the vocals dept…..TOP NOTCH , THUMBS UP on this one…Yes indeedy !!

#4~ ” THIS BOY” : There is just something spectacular that occurs when MLT do slower paced songs, vocally it just reverberates, resonates, it completely grasps hold on you. and I’m pleased to say that it had such effect when listening to it .

#5~ ” IN MY LIFE ” : I’ve always enjoyed this one , whether it’s the Beatles , or whoever else has covered it but yet again, the simplistic version of just vocal/harmonies/guitar, etc…it truly captures the essence of the song, takes one back to the days when….

#6~ ” BLACKBIRD” : This song has a haunting vibe to it and once more, the MLT MAGIC was invoked, and it came out beautifully done, again a simple, rawness but effective.

    # 7~ ” FOR WHAT ITS WORTH” : This one is a classic, original and now MLT-ed style…..This one strikes a CHORD ( pardon the PUN 😉 ) , vocal-wise, guitar work…it just speaks on it’s own merits…

#8~ ” DRIVE MY CAR” : Alrighty then, we have ourselves a surefire humdinger winner here, …What’s not to love about this ?! A favourite for sure, upbeat, whimisical, quirky , goodtime kinda FunkyGroovy….A perfect PostivityPickMeUpper !!

    #9~ ” CAN’T BUY ME LOVE ” : You can definitely hear the BEATLES-esque going on here…there’s no denying it… Fabtastic .

#10~ ” WHILE MY GUITAR GENTLY WEEPS ” : Well this speaks for itself, in a class all its own, George would be most pleased of it, I think, I know I am, I believe it to be my all time fave off this CD . To me, this is as equal calibre to George’s take . You”ve done good 😀

#11~ ” GOD ONLY KNOWS ” : I ‘m a Beach Boys Fan , yes, I admit it…but I like the Female take on this, hearing female voices as opposed to all guys, it just works…..A phenomenal version, Kudos .

#12~ ” PEOPLE ARE STRANGE ” : Groovy Funky Vibe is what you get here, and that’s good…..Song’s spirit channeling through clearly .

#13~ ” DAY TRIPPER” : Another of my all time fave Beatles songs done with such awesome enthusiasm, definitely rocking and rolling along here.

#14~ ” THE LAST TIME ” …LOVE this…I think they bettered it than the STONES did .. Just supreme take on all angles in the efforts made here.

#15~ ” MERCEDES BENZ” : Janis Joplin, she should be proud of this, I am…The gals nailed this totally, and Mona ‘s Blues Harp tidbits…WooHoo !!

In summary, this CD yielded an abundance of Groovy and Rock and Roll !! Worthy of having, please get your copy and enjoy !!

Though I have had this album CD for quite some time now, I just noticed I missed reviewing it!

My teen years were in the 1980’s but I grew up in a home filled with the sounds of the sixties. MLT cover all the listed songs brilliantly – be it with their own twist. I would recommend this CD on two fronts. First I would be happy to play these songs as covers and have played them to my parents (teens of the sixties) – they both liked the covers. Second is simply this; the twins have wonderful voices and the band as a whole really present their music wonderfully, professionally and with great passion.

The Fab 2 have struck again. The two young artists have tackled songs from the greatest pop/rock band ever, and have done and amazing job….staying true to themselves and to the Beatles….Congratulations and all the best to you

Okay, you both have a new fan from America. I’m a huge Beatles fan (among other 60s groups), and you two are spot on. I also love your original music. You have beautiful vocal harmonies and a great chemistry. I’ll be keeping an eye on your successes.

The two of you are amazing. I grew up with The Beatles and The Beach Boys and the way you did This Boy and God Only Knows is great. I am also a Hollies fan and Bus Stop had to be one of the funniest video’s I have ever seen. I am looking forward to getting my CD – especially since it has Friday on my mind which was also a favorite of mine back in the day. I am also a guitar player so I can appreciate the hard work that went into a lot of the songs I have seen so far. And the video’s of the two of you when you were 13….. amazing for two youngsters. I wonder if that was your mom and dad in the video’s? And one last thing, great job on In My Life. Looking forward to seeing a lot more from the two of you. Congratulations

I got my The MonaLisaTwins play Beatles and more cd yesterday and i absolutely love it. Not just because they are excellent singers and musicians who can pull those great songs off, and live plays them with so much joy and energy. But even more because they, although they play the songs with great respect and close to the originals, they have the talent to give them a personal touch and make them sound interesting and new again. Like in While My Guitar Gently Weeps where they are playing it with a much softer sound, so now i know what it sounds like when a girl is gently weeping, or This Boy where they added a perfect little 60s style guitar solo. If you like The Beatles and other great songs from that era, you`ll love this album.

The “Beatles & More” album is brilliant! In my opinion you are the only artists who can make Beatles covers better than the originals. Also I love the solos on “People Are Strange”, Michael and Philipp are excellent!

Mona and Lisa Wagner have renewed my faith in the younger generation. From the perspective of an older rock and roller, in my opinion much of what loosely passes for music these days seems to me to be more flash than substance, more techno-beat than rhythm, more synthetic than real.

However, from the moment I saw these two fine young artists on Youtube some years ago, through their release of their first original album, to this excellent compilation of early classics, it is clear that they possess pure and natural musical talent and a deep appreciation for the roots of rock and roll.

Absent a chorus of dancers, and without an entourage of background singers, Mona and Lisa nevertheless consistently compose and perform amazing renditions of original songs and covers, replete with beautifully played intertwined guitars, seamlessly meshed with lovely vocal harmonies. Testament to their raw talent, they accomplish this with only two other musicians; a solid drummer and bassist.

Upon listening to their songs one is projected back in time to an era when artists made it on the merits of their music, when the sound meant more than the hype.

My hunch, indeed my fervent hope, is that this latest interim project will be followed by a journey into the very soul of rock and roll- a voyage into the Blues.

I knew your CD was coming in the mail, but i didn’t expect to arrive so soon!! I immediately burned the CD into my ITUNES library. I’m listening to the music as i write this review! What is it that I love about The MonaLisa Twins? First of all they are truly talented musicians. The guitar playing is first rate, and they blend their voices such as Phil or Don of The Every Brothers, or John & Paul of The Beatles.

During these last few years I’ve seen these girls develop into beautiful young ladies. Again my roommate asked me who do you know in Austria? I answered 2 beautiful young ladies who play guitar and sing some great music!

Love the CD & thank you so much
    Chris

I just received your CD today, this really brightened my Monday!!! I think I need to make a copy of the CD because I will have it worn out from playing it all the time. These are some of the best covers I have ever heard. You two really know how to keep the Beatles sound alive. I love your originals, so keep them coming also.
