MLT Club – Live at the Cavern Club

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Cavern Club … the “cellar of all cellars”, the “most famous club in the world”, the “birthplace of the Beatles”, the “Merseybeat mecca” …!

Back in October 2016 we filmed our last two residency shows as we were always planning on releasing them some point later in our career. A few of you have been there (maybe you want to share your experience in the comment section of the posts?), and so you might have seen Dad and Michaela fighting for safe spots in the crowd to properly light and film the stage.

Going through the footage catapulted us back in time, and we kind of relived all the fun and excitement we had felt every Saturday. By way of cutting and editing the material we tried our best for you to experience the live atmosphere and sound of the “cave”.

In this new section we’ll be regularly releasing videos of our very last full-band show at the Cavern Club from October 9th, 2016  … from start to finish, in the right order of the set list … so here we go!

On bass and backing vocals is Callum Williams, and Charlie Skeggs is goofing around on the drums 🙂

Live recording and Mix: Dad/Rudolf Wagner

Okay, here’s the mother lode.

I knew there were parts of the site I hadn’t looked at yet, but after a couple of these showed up on YT and I’m thinking, “I don’t think I’ve seen that before(?)” it was time to go find it.

I see, you hid these under “LIVE AT THE CAVERN CLUB”. lol.

Wow, I feel a party afternoon coming on and doing what Tim says below, just attending the whole show. Virtual Cavern. Very cool.

On their website they call it a warehouse cellar.

Alan Sytner created the club and called it the “Cavern Club” after the Caveau de la Huchette club in Paris. The original Cavern Club was demolished in 1973. It was later rebuilt, on the same site, and reopened in 1984.

I’ve never been to the Cavern Club, but I have been to the Caveau de la Huchette in 1991. It’s also a basement venue with a similar arched ceiling, Here’s a site about the Caveau, with a picture of it:

Sytner’s obituary in the Independent has more details about the Cavern Club:

Just a thought, but with the sad passing of Burt Bacharach last week, are Mona and Lisa thinking of honouring him with a cover? “The Look Of Love” might be suitable? Or “Promises, Promises” for something more upbeat. Have a wonderful weekend, all of the Wagner family!

I watched this whole show on my big screen TV. It was awesome. What a fantastic show. Looked like you had so much fun. My hat is off to your sound man and recording engineer (I believe is your Papa Rudi) for making this sound so good. I wish I could have been there. Best live club show I’ve ever watched or listened to.

Wow! That was an energetic send-off into Friday! I love watching these videos because it makes me feel as though I am right there with you. I chose This Bit is Mine because it is original and so much fun to watch. I love seeing the expressions on the faces of the audience as they react to your performance. I also laugh every time I see the look on Lisa’s face when she sees the mic stand tip over!

Another great album set! There are several I like a lot from the ones that you haven’t released the videos for yet – looking forward to seeing those videos in the future.

Watching the videos I realize what a fabulous show that must have been. You really had the crowd going; everyone was having a great time. It would have been special to have been there.

Received my very special signed copy of Live at the Cavern Club double CD today. Been playing it all day…absolutely love it, so much so, you have inspired me to pick up my guitar again and start playing at 61yrs old! LOL….. Well done girls and can’t wait to see you both live in the future. Thank you to you both (and the team) for bringing many smiles and happiness through your music during these more difficult times.
