The Year Of Endings And New Beginnings
We started this year off the way you should start off every year … by taking a nice long creative vacation 😉 The first one in five years to be exact, and boy, did it feel great! After having moved to England, sunshine became a bit of a rarity, and to be able to soak up some much needed vitamin D again felt heavenly.
Lanzarote became our home for two weeks for a much bigger reason than to simply relax. We wanted to use the time to the best of our abilities and finish all the song writing for our ORANGE album that was going to be released the following year.
And we did it. Cut off from civilization, with an internet connection so slow that you weren’t tempted to binge watch the latest Netflix series or answer emails all day long, and surrounded by a landscape as brutal, magnificent and inspiring as can be, our creative juices were flowing freely.
We came back home recharged and went to work straight away. We began recording demos of all songs and started fleshing things out. With a few roadblocks thrown in our way, however, we weren’t able to finish the album that year but the big creative chunk of actually writing the songs was done.
One side project which we more than welcomed was recording at Abbey Road Studios with Steve Harley (& Cockney Rebel).
Massive TICK on the bucket list!
That year was also the year we quit our Two Year Cavern Club Residency. After pretty much exactly 100 shows at what is possibly the most famous club in the world we decided to end it. We loved it and we learnt so much during that time, and every weekend was a different, fun and exciting experience. But it was never meant to be forever, and it was time to move on from honing our live performance skills to advance our songwriting skills.
