Rehearsing For A Show With US-Artist Mike Massé – Behind The Scenes Video

We have a gig coming up in a few days …

Mike Massé, acoustic (YouTube) artist from America, is coming over for a UK tour. As we share our love for Beatles covers and also parts of our fanbases, he invited us to join him on stage during his show at the Epstein Theatre in Liverpool. We loved the idea and immediately got to work discussing song ideas and arrangements.

Yesterday, Michaela came in while we were going over some possible harmonies and song arrangements. She just sneaked up on us with her phone camera to get a preview-teaser for you groovy MLT Club members! Nothing super-fancy this time, not the best audio quality either, but we figured you wouldn’t mind getting a little update snippet, right?

So here you go! Have a look into the glamorous life of a musician: Rehearsing songs on the bedroom floor with a slightly out-of-tune guitar! Don’t worry, we’ll have the lyrics down and instruments tuned by next week! 😉

We want to keep the set-list a surprise for the audience, so please don’t share it outside the MLT Club yet. If you want to find out more about the gig or get tickets click here.

As we mentioned in the video, we’ll try to film the gig and if we get a good audio recording from the show, might put some things online for those of you who won’t be able to be there. We’ve also got a proper studio recording planned with Mike for a video to go up on his YouTube channel, so there’s plenty of things to look forward to in the next few weeks.

You know you’re in for a fun time when you meet up with great musicians like Mike, so we’re looking forward to getting together and making some music happen! We’re equally excited to meet some of you after the show – one groovy MLT Club member is even flying across the big pond from America! Watch this space for more updates 🙂

Lots of groovy love from Liverpool,
Mona & Lisa

  1. Well the practice paid off. That performance of Africa with Mike is amazing. Your video of Nowhere Man is also superb. That’s one of my all time favorite Beatle songs and I may even like yours better. Thanks Michaela for capturing the little snippet of bedroom rehearsals.

  2. What I loved about both the video and the Behind the Scenes is that you tackled a song from the 1980s, specifically a song that was popular during my high school graduation year (1982). Mona had a sweet, full sound on the 12-string and Lisa had some great licks using the Hofner bass. Of course, the harmonies were excellent to the extreme.

Hopefully, you will have the opportunity to do more songs from that crazy decade that was the 80s!

  3. I love this behind the scenes video!
Watching how easily you harmonize and play twelve string and bass is just awe inspiring. Your talent and all your practice make you both so special. It’s like I would imagine watching Lennon and McCartney putting harmonies together when they were writing songs. So fun to watch and see your lovely personalities – thanks to Michaela for sneaking in!

  4. Sure sounds like a great show. Be sure to get some video if at all possible. The selections are great. I know you will perform them with all that MLT charm and professionalism! Lisa on the bass…I like it!

  5. This is fab! Looking forward to it. I didn’t know Mike, but it seems his choice of songs are a great fit for you. I hope we get at least a GoPro up in a corner so those of us that can’t go can be a fly on the wall!
Sitting on the floor in sweats at home, can’t be more candid that this! Thank you!

  6. Thanks so much for this cozy “behind the scenes”. Really love your choice of songs, really really really wish I could fly over and see the show. But I’ll never give away the dream. Best wishes for a dynamite show. I know you will knock their socks off!

  7. wow! you all sound fabulous! You dont have anything to worry about on Nowhere man. Love It! Thanks For Sharing Mona,Lisa, and Especially Michaela. By The Way Ladies, I sent a donation for a Ticket. I cant be there, but wanted you to get some Money for a ticket.

    1. I had exactly the same idea and tried to buy a ticket too (though I knew I wouldn’t be able to do so), but I couldn’t even do that, because of unexpected technical difficulties with my card. 🙁 Those websites for ticket sales should really all start using PayPal – I’m sure it wouldn’t be rocket science for them…

  8. ..And of course huge thanks to Michaela for making it possible to bring this bright little piece of joy to us all to enjoy! 🙂

  9. That was really cool. I have been trying to learn a little bass, too. It IS a lot of fun to play. Great watching you two just being you because you are amazing! Thanks, Michaela, for sneaking in with the camera and sharing it with us! Lots of love to all of you; and best wishes for a fantastic experience on the 21st of May. I know the show will be spectacular. Wish I could be there. 🙂

  10. Great way to kick off the weekend here in the U.S.! Thanks so much for this informal jam. Loved seeing you both up close and personal, as well as hearing Michaela. Hi to Papa Rudi also and we hope the concert is a great success. Hope to see you all during IBW. Love from Linda and Tomm

  11. Thank you so much Michaela. This is awesome. Don’t know what we’d do without you. So nice to see a relaxed Mona and Lisa, without stage make up, jamming on their bedroom floor – Toto’s ‘Africa’ and songs from the Beatles’ ‘Sgt Peppers’ and ‘Rubber Soul’. More please!

Forget about that American tour. Way too big and you won’t have time after your tenth anniversary visit to Adelaide.

  12. Thoroughly enjoyed this… Kudos to Michaela…. She shoots and scores…. A behind the scenes sneak peak snippet…. Go get em girls…. You’ll have it all Groovified To Go for the gig… Hoping there’ll be some good video moments to share…. OK… Bass and Guitar onwards with tuneful Harmonies….. Thankyou for sharing… Made my day!!

  13. Performing another song off Rubber Soul!, how awesome, loved hearing your rehearsal of it here. This preview teaser is just a gem, loved it! Wish I could be a the show. Any audio recording of the show would be just wonderful. Hope you have just a fantastic show with Mike Masse. Thanks for sharing this.

  14. You gals show what a love you have for music. Love the casual setting of this recording. Thanks Michaela for passing it along to us Club members. It’s always a treat to see the behind the scenes and preparation part of putting a show together and see the laundry. lol. Have a blast singing at the show. Maybe Mike will be a springboard to help get you to America finally by touring with him. Who knows.
