A few weeks before setting off on tour across the UK with Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel, we recorded our favourite song by them called “The Best Years Of Our Lives”. You can watch the finished video here. We consider the live performance of this song, especially the one on Steve’s first live album “Face to Face” one of the most touching live moments in rock history.
It was a wonderful challenge to cover it and we shot the video at the beach of Crosby, right by the “Iron Men”. As usual – it was a cold day but this time it fitted the video perfectly. We kept it quite simple as you can see …

Again you take a song and make it all your own! Mona your harp playing is amazing in this tune and you completely nail the vocal spot on. I had never heard this song before and you gave it a sort of Irish folk feeling, which is where I thought it originated before reading the notes, Brilliant! And the setting for the video worked perfectly. So simple yet any other would not have worked nearly as well. Thank you for all the joy as always! 🙂
You girls truly show your talent and merit here as belonging in the company of some of the greatest singers in the world. The singing is so moving and touching. I get goosebumps and shivers every time I hear this cover of yours. I think if this was the only song Steve Harley ever did, he could be called a musical legend.
I had never heard this before now- I had passed by it to hear songs I was familiar with and it accidentally fell through the cracks. OMG, this is wonderful!
