Wonderful Christmastime (Download)

Wonderful Christmastime …

It’s become somewhat of a tradition for us to make a Christmas video every year. In 2016 we decided to go for Paul McCartney’s “Wonderful Christmastime”.

As we’ve read in the comments later, a lot of people shared our thoughts on Paul’s original arrangement and instrumentation … not everyone’s cup of tea.

That’s why we took the liberty to try and play around with it a bit by giving it more of an acoustic spin, adapting the song for one guitar and one ukulele only. We always loved the melody and wanted to see what the song sounded like without the synth and delay. After a couple of days in the studio we put on our finest hats and went to the streets to film the video 🙂
We’d like to give you all the free download today, so you can add it to your Christmas playlist this year if you want to.

Bonus: We’ve got something else for you to listen to, which got sent to us by one of you very recently that might make you laugh as much as us.

Maybe some of the Americans amongst you know of the radio duo Bob & Sheri. Their radio show is a syndicated U.S. programme and seems to be popular across the whole country. If you’re from the US and have listened to the Bob & Sheri Show before, let us know – we’re curious!

They recently had a discussion about “Wonderful Christmastime” and took apart Paul’s version as well as several covers – including ours. Find out which version is their favourite! 😉

We were cracking up about the things they had to say … The discussion about the song starts at 24:50.

See you all tomorrow ♥

Lol! Cracking up. ???? Bob said “If you can’t make it with those voices and those looks, show business needs to end” Well, they ARE making it, AND show business (as it is today) needs to end.

]McCartney’s original song is on my list of worst Christmas songs ever, but I find myself actually enjoying your version. I like the video, too. How about trying John’s Happy Christmas/War is Over next?

We’ve been thinking about doing War Is Over … but so far we’ve just been thinking about it. Maybe next year. I’m happy that you see our version of “Wonderful Christmastime” as an upgrade to the original, we’ll gladly take that 🙂

I’m with Rick on this…I’ve not heard of them before either but that’s because I’m Canadian but now that we can access all kinds of radio stns online..I’m thinking …I should tune into these two…. I enjoyed listening to this, yes, one can’t help but crackup EH 😛 BTW…I love your version just a wee tad more than Paul’s…sorry Sir Paul, but I do… The video makes me warm up on a cold winter day, Thankyou and having English Breakfast Tea from Tim Hortons while watching and listening helps too 😀

I really love your version. As Bob and Sheri said “it’s something about the Sibling harmonies that make this version stand out” incredible version ladies. As I have said before your harmonies are the best since the Beach Boys and Bee Gees. It can’t be taught.
I’ve never heard the Bob And Sheri Show before. Sounds like a lot of fun. I was laughing hard during the comments. Thanks for sharing.

This version is definitely better than Paul’s original. Your bright smiles while going through the marketplace add such a merry feeling to a completely original cover of a classic. Lisa, again you use the ukulele very effectively adding immensely to a terrific performance. And of course the video is stellar. To quote a classic whisper….”Merry Christmas!”…….

Well there’s no contest, the twins version tops Paul’s. Hands down. I love it! As for Bob & Sheri I’ve never heard of them here in N.Y. but they obviously picked our favorite twins version as well! How could they not?

So what’s the best version of “Wonderful Christmastime”? Duh!! The MLT of course! I think you need to do your best to set up an interview with this program, sounds excellent, and funny. I’ve discovered my quote of the year for MLT. “My god theyr’e beautiful. They have like, Heidi pigtails. If you look like those girls and you can’t make it, with those voices and those are your names, show business needs to end!” Bob Lacey, Bob and Sheri Show. And so say all of us in MLT Clubland Bob!

Oh you certainly had to have enjoyed listening to the Bob and Sheri show fall in love with your music, and your elf outfits. Bob gets a bit carried away but you should pursue that invitation if possible. They have a huge audience and have been on the air for over 25 years. Wear your elf outfits.

This is my favorite of your Christmas songs, after this years Little Drummer Boy. Yours is a great version of the song. This tune for some reason stays in my head all day after hearing it. Love all the cute hats. 🙂

I just finished hearing the Bob and Sheri show. What an awesome plug for you and your music. I couldn’t agree more. Your versions of any song with your singing and harmony are magic!
