Beatles Studio Bloopers – Reaction

Don’t you just love Beatles Bloopers?

Today we’re reacting to some really well edited Beatles studio outtakes uploaded by the YouTube channel foxinakettle.

This is the video link: The Beatles STUDIO BLOOPERS

When we were teenagers and discovering the Beatles for the first time, clips like this meant the world to us. They gave us you such a great insight into the Boys’ personalities, humour, recording style, and we love hearing them banter back and forth. While we had probably heard all of the individual clips in today’s video before, it was fun to hear them all together again with the funny editing.

You can’t help but smile and want to be friends with these guys!

Thanks to Bill B. for the submission – it made our day. Don’t forget, you can continue to submit videos for us through this page.

We’re spending the day relaxing and celebrating our 29th birthday today. ๐Ÿ™‚ We’ll film a little birthday-present-opening video in the upcoming days which we’ll post next Friday. You’ll see us again then!

Don’t forget to use the coupon code MLTturn29 in the entire online store for -29% off your basket. The coupon code will be active until the end of tomorrow (midnight GMT).

See you all next week!

Stay groovy,
Mona & Lisa

  1. Hey Mona and Lisa! I have to tell you that your comments about the Beatles and liking their personalities and wanting to be friends with them is exactly the way that I feel about you guys! You have the same type of wonderful, fun personalities! Thanks so much for the Beatles Bloopers. Do you have any bloopers of your own? If so, maybe you could post them for us! Happy Birthday!

  2. Love the bloopers from way back when they were recording their first few albums. Just regular guyโ€™s making musical history! And at that point, they probably didnโ€™t even imagine where it would all lead to. Thanks for sharing! And I do hope your birthdays were awesome!

  3. Happy Birthday!
That was funny, I had heard some of them, but it’s great to hear them together, as in together with you, ’cause you know… when we’re together…

  4. Howdy,
Though it’s been said many times and many ways, Happy 29th Birthday to my favorite twins (don’t tell my brother & sister).
And many, many, many more fabulous ones.
Thank you for all you do to bring enjoyment into our lives.
Hope everyone has a good weekend and Happy Father’s Day to Rudi and all the dads out there.
    Cheers,
    Bobby S.

  5. Very cool to spend time with your happy and beautiful selves watching the boys at work. Really shows how amazingly hard it can be to play live and get the notes and harmonies right with no retakes. Your Cavern Club performances are all the more wonderful.
The Beatles obviously enjoyed being themselves and getting along so well , especially since they went from โ€œtrain to room, to car to roomโ€ under siege most of the time.
Thanks for sharing time with us on your birthdays- hope you had a wonderful day to begin hopefully your best year yet!

  6. Happy Birthday Mona & Lisa !!!
I watched this video, and I’d like to listen your fine Beatles songs in German some day.

  7. That was so much fun. The Beatles magic wasn’t only their music, but their amazing charisma and humour. Thanks for doing this, was so enjoyable to spend a moment with you both. You always brighten my day.

Hope you both had a most special day celebrating your birthday, and have an awesome birthday weekend too! ๐Ÿงก Again, a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

  8. Happy Birthday! That was funny. Beatles were human too. Good to smile on your birthday. And eat cake.

Wishing you all good things in the future. Take care.

  9. Happy 29th birthday to Mona and Lisa!!! I know it’s tough having a birthday so close (and sometimes on) Father’s Day – my birthday is next to or on Mother’s Day each year. So now after saying that … an early happy father’s day to Papa Rudi all the MLT dads.

Thanks to Bill for the fun bloopers. One reason I love to see the Twins perform live each year at Advent is because they can’t cover up the oopsies. When Mona and Lisa started laughing last year during “Alone”, it ended up looking as if they wanted it to be that way; turning a bloop into a plus shows the what pros you really are.

  10. “It’s good to see them mess up properly”. That is the quote of the day. Well played, Mona!

Happy 29th Birthday! What a successful year, with the completion and release of “Why?”. May the upcoming year bring you much happiness!

Please do something fun with my Birthday donation. As always, Stay Groovy!

  11. Happy Birthday Mona & Lisa !!! I hope you have the grooviest birthday ever!!! It is always great see you two every Friday. Love the MLT Club.

  12. Thanks for sharing this. We have not seen it before now. Your smiles are so contagious, itโ€™s ridiculous.

Against Marloโ€™s advice, I thought I would spring a couple of Dad jokes on you. What do you call someone who is missing their body and their nose? Nobody Knows

I am trying to start a Hide & Seek tournament, but good players are hard to find.

I was going to tell you a secret about peanut butter, but I knew you would spread it around.

    Happy Birthday!

    Love,

    Marlo & JP

  13. Happy birthday, Lisa and Mona! It’s so nice that there’s a 24-hour period each year where every time I see the current date displayed somewhere, warm thoughts of you automatically follow.

Thank you as always for your unending supply of joy that you regularly share with us. As Sonny Curtis sang, you can take a nothing day and suddenly make it all seem worthwhile.

Vielen Dank also for the 29% discount at the MLT store. If my math is right, I should have myself cryogenically frozen so that I can be around to take advantage of your REALLY great deal in 2094!

    1. David, I took advantage of the 29% discount and got the 3 Beatles and more CDs. I already have them but not signed copies. The ones I already have will become presents.
Great deal, thanks to MLT for being so generous. Maybe we could make this International Twins Day. I have 4 sets in my family.

  14. First, Happy 29th Birthday to you both!!
Second, everyone makes mistakes… even the best artist. And, because I’m 70, most relevant to me… doctors. That’s scary, but true.
Entertaining video. Always fun to see others make mistakes.
Happy Birthday!! Have a fantastic day times two. ๐Ÿ’›โค๏ธ๐ŸŽŠ๐ŸŽ‰

  15. Happy Birthday, you kids. The out-takes of the Beatles were fine, but as Wayne K suggested: how about some MLT out-takes? Again hope you enjoyed your birthday, and many more. Peace be.

  16. Happy Birthday to you dear Mona & Lisa, have a great day, I can not wait to see next week when you will open the cards and the gifts that you have received. Bon Anniversaire a vous deux, vous etes formidable.

  17. 29 !!!!!!?? Goodness, you guys don’t look a day over 19. Maybe the face cream and cucumber slices are the secret fountain of youth. You two are a questionable pair ๐Ÿ™‚
May your 29 stay in your mirrors and your hearts for many years to come.
    HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!
BIG HUGS from the land of 8 Billion Bluebonnets

  18. Dear Mona&Lisa
Well ladies it’s already that time of year again.
Paul Simon would say that he hung another year on the line.
Since that Stairway is one full year in our rear-view mirror
i guess we can ease up on the security precautions.
If you want to go sky-diving again, or drive on the wrong side of the
road, or get close up photos of the volcano in the Canary Islands
it’s probably safe. Just be careful.
    Happy Birthday ladies.

  19. A BIG Happy Birthday from me! Always love the Beatles humour, luckily it has infected you both as well! Hope you have a great day and look forward to your last year in the 20s!! Where does the time go you will soon be asking yourselves!! Also, big thanks for the mega store discount!

  20. Great fun in the studio, showing the Beatles in their true โ€˜down to earthโ€™ Liverpudlian ways. Love it.
Hope you both had a fabulous Birthday (deliberately in past tense, as by the time you read this youโ€™ll be 29 and a few days ha ha). x

  21. Thanks for remembering me: Happy Birthday.
I have a MonaLisa Calander, but if you do look at the details you do not see your birthdays.
    Love these reaction videoโ€™s.

  22. Now that I have the correct day, Happy Birthday!
So much fun to hear and see clips of bloopers of our music and movie heroes, proves that although in a vastly different world of talent, they are just as human as we are.

  23. If you have ever played in a band, all of the beatles bloopers sound so familiar. But, if you are with your friends the bloopers are all part of the process. Thanks for sharing.
Also, Please have a Wonderful Birthday. You both have certainly become very beautiful ladies in your 29 years. It’s been wonderful to have been a part of the MLT adventure.

  24. Hello Birthday Ladies!
Hope you’re having a wonderful day. Just imagine, for a minute, next year you’ll both be 30! Wow!
Hope your having Sticky Toffee Pudding, and lots of it. And many, many gifts.
Loved today’s reaction video. I hadn’t seen these before, and got a good laugh.
    Again have a wonderful day.
BTW, do you all sometimes get the same thing for gifts? Same color and everything. I.e. the same exact thing?
    Best always
    Rick Ross

  25. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MONA AND LISA!!!! Hope you both have a wonderful day and weekend. Thanks for sharing this video of bloopers. It shows that yes the great ones are human and kind spirt people. I always thought that the Mama and Papa song I saw her today has a flaw in it, when they go thru the insturmental part they come back in and one person sings ” I saw her ” and then a break and they all come in so I feel that is a part of that song they left in or maybe I am wrong but it works and sounds great to me. I always like bloopers per say like the end of a movie? Some are very funny…So again Happy Birthday to Mona and Lisa from me and Maddie and we send hugs and love , have a piece of cake for Maddie!!
Bill and Maddie Isenberg Huge Fans from Pittsburgh PA USA

    1. Hi Bill,
Yes that Mama’s and Papa’s hit “I Saw Her Again”, became very well known for the error that was include in the final cut. At the time, us fans were not certain if it was done accidentally of intentionally. Their engineer Bones Howe explained that during the studio session, they were punching vocals in and when it came to the part where the rhythm stops and the group sings – “I saw her again last night”, he just punched it in early.
“They came in early and so we stopped.” Lou Adler, the producer, said that he loved it and to leave it in. It WAS a mistake, but sounded great.
      Take care’
      Bobby S.

      1. Hey, Bobby. I’m not sure what “punching in” vocals means. Are you saying that Bones made a mistake inserting Denny’s pre-recorded vocal too early in the mix, or that Denny made a mistake coming in too early in the vocal recording?

      2. Hi Dave,
The explanation I read sounded like the engineer goofed when they were editing the song and he (Bones) made the mistake. Sometimes good things occur by accident.
        Take care,
        Bobby

      3. Sorry if this is a lousy description. I’ve “punched in” hundreds of times, but I never tried to describe how it’s done. There are several ways to “punch in” including punching in something recorded prior to another recording or after a recording is finished. Either way is probably not a good idea. Below is how I “punch in” for a guitar during an original recording session.

“Punching In” is the term used in a recording to do exactly what it says and is utilized fairly often. When recording, say a guitar part, if played all the way through and a mistake is made, you can set punch points (Start punch and End punch) where ever you need to record over the guitar track. After setting the “punch points”, you can start recording at any location in the song and play along, but nothing is actually recorded except for between the “Start Punch point” and the “End Punch point”. If punched in properly, no one would ever know the guitar was played from the beginning of the song to the end without a mistake. Same with vocals or any instrument. Drums may be a different story.

Any track can be punched in (vocals, guitar, bass etc…), but all settings for the track, mic, instrument, amp, etc… must be set the same as during the original recording. If punched in at a later date, the recording of a vocal or instrument may not sound the same.

      4. Thanks, Phil! I think I get it, and I can see how that would come in handy if you’re anything less than a perfect musician.

      5. Being a Mamas & Paoas fan…I recall reading about that & being brought up in an interview somewhere and ” California Dreaming” had a flaw of sorts too, with the guy that sang ” Eve of Destruction ” – his name escapes me just now …. I’m also into Cass Elliot’s solo stuff and Denny ‘s stuff too…Cass & Michelle actually sang backing vocals on Denny’s solo album, ” Waiting For A Song ” …I ‘m not as keen on Michelle nor John’s solo stuff … Michelle is better at acting ( Knots Landing fame )๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ™ƒ

      6. What was the flaw in Barry McGuire’s version, Jacki? I just now listened to it for the first time. Pretty jarring to hear that gravelly voice paired with those smooth backing vocals!

      7. Hi David, Barry, that’s the name…. I’ve corresponded with some yrs back….
Yes, that was tge flaw, you briefly could hear his vocals in background when Mamas & Papas sung ….lol… Thankfully, Mamas & Papas take overruled…lol…. but it is cool when a flaw sometimes works in favor/ be in a positive way to enhance a song ….gives it more unique 0ness of essence to it, character …. Thanks for replying … ๐Ÿค˜๐Ÿ˜Ž

      8. Thanks, Jacki. One famous Beatle flaw I can think of that made it to the finished product is Paul’s voice breaking in If I Fell, when he hits the high note on the word “vain”:

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ls0_NQyQys&t=87s

I once wrote a teaching-related parody of Eve of Destruction. The hook line was “I can’t believe you didn’t read the instructions.”

      9. Hi Dave,
I love many of the songs from A Hard Day’s Night film, especially And I Love Her & If I Fell. I’m not sure why they left that flaw by Paul in the recording – but it shows that the Beatles are not perfect and no one is perfect – and you don’t need to be.
        Bobby S.

      10. Yes Jacki, I agree about Michelle Phillips. I always thought that she was in the group because she was John Phillips wife and kind of cute. She turned out to be a pretty good actress.
Their daughter, Chynna, was/is a pretty good singer. Did you ever listen to any of Wilson Phillips recordings? Chynna sings with two of Brian Wilson’s daughters – Carnie & Wendy. The trio had several hit songs.

      11. Yepoers.. I have a Best of WPs CD…. That was kinda cool how hey formed …. Chynna got blessed with singing chops ….. yes, I agree…Michelle was in the band for her sexy look, being John’s wife , I believe …

On YouTube somewheres…. There’s a video of Cass Elliot’s younger sister, Leah Kunkel duetting with James Taylor’s brother – Livingston , ( I think that is his name ) and I also think Leah’s hubby – Russ Kunkel was at one point part of the ” Wrecking Crew ” …. lol

      12. Robert,
Wow great story!! I always thought it was an error and I invisioned the producer just waving his hands to keep it going….This is why I love this MLT Club with people like you Robert giving us insights on things I know I never knew, how cool is this! I also remember reading about the song When a man loves a woman by Percy Sledge, and the horns were out of tune towards the end of the song, but they left it in and to me? Sounds awesome! Thank you Robert for the inforamtion and I love history of music. When I used to buy viynal albums and I would sit and read who wrote it and who played what and words etc….

      13. Hi Bill, I too love the Club and talking with other members is great.
The song you mentioned, “When a Man Loves a Woman” by Percy Sledge, was a big #1 Hit. I love the organ and the drums on the recording. (If you haven’t listened to Michael Bolton sing it, then do not – it was terrible). I just re-listened to it by Percy and tried to listen carefully to the horns, as you mentioned. I think it was primarily the trumpet (I play the trumpet, lol) that was either not tuned properly or just went off key and hit some sour notes, haha. Yeah, they left it in.
        Take care,
        Bobby S.

      14. I’m not sure if this counts as a blooper, but after the somewhat raggedy instrumental finish of Blood, Sweat & Tears’ “Spinning Wheel”, one of them is heard saying, “That wasn’t too good.”

      15. David yes that is so much a part of that song and if I don’t hear it ? It is uncomplete to me…LOL..

      16. Robert,
Hello, meaning to add this great conversation….The Rolling Stones Song Can’t you hear me knocking off the Sticky Fingers album, was a huge jam session at the very end of the song that the producer I believe Jimmy Miller kept the tape rolling and they decided to leave it on the record. Another song comes to mind is It’s only Rock and Roll in which Keith Richards took out all of Ron Woods guitar parts but forgot to take the acoustic guitar the Ron did and felt oh well leave it in.

  26. Hope you are having “the most wonderful time of the year” (you singing that will now be happily playing in my head, luv it!). Wishing the two of you a very, very happy birthday! May the memories you made today bring smiles to your face in the years to come. And of course thank you for the Friday smiles. You are the best. ๐Ÿ™‚

  27. It’s funny The Beatles got anything recorded properly. Happy Birthday Mona and Lisa, please take the day off and have some fun!!

    1. You are right Tim, the Beatles seemed to fool around an awful lot in the studio. I’m guessing that it was thanks to George Martin that everything eventually got completed.
I’m wondering if they did a lot of it on purpose for our benefit so we could experience it and smile 60 years later. lol
      Bobby S.
