Mighty Radio Southport – The Saturday Cafe With Russ Broadbent – Radio Interview

Local but mighty Southport Radio!

[wonderplugin_audio id=”72″]

Mighty Radio is a local Southport radio station we’ve visited a few times now. Usually we’re sharing the studio with a lot of other musicians, playing some music and just hanging out for an hour or two chatting about everything that’s new.

In the player on this page you can listen to our three latest interviews there. The first one is just “Russ and us”, so it’s mostly us talking. The other two are Christmas shows from 2016 and 2017!

We apologise for the distorted sound of the first two podcasts – if we find a better recording, we will swap them out!

Russ Broadbent hosts a show called “The Saturday Cafe”, and especially during Christmas time it can get very crammed in his studio. The last two times we visited his show was on the day of Christmas Eve (or the “actual” Christmas in Austria and many other parts of Europe) so why not brew some tea, sit back  and put on the podcast and enjoy some live performances and friendly banter.

Radio Performance at Mighty Southport Radio

While we enjoy visiting the big BBC Radio Studios, there is something really comforting and personal about doing the more local shows from time to time. The feeling of community and creative freedom is what is going to keep people interested and these stations alive without the funding that the “big guys” get.

Thanks for listening!  It’s a pleasure to share these kinds of shows with you 🙂

Stay groovy,
Mona & Lisa

Kristi and I are in California visiting family. As we left home, we checked the mail and… a lovely card from you! Thanks for that and a great year of grooviness. We are looking forward to hearing more about a new album. I admit that I was a bit miffed to hear about it first from Mike Sweeney 😉 In retrospect, it should have been obvious, but I didn’t think you had snuck off for some inspirational retreat yet. We’d love to hear about where you are going in a post-orange world. Cheers!

Another great interview. Loved hearing you do Dylan’s ‘It Ain’t Me Babe’. I still remember the first time I heard the version of this from the Turtles. Really looking forward to the day you do your cover of the Kinks’ ‘Waterloo Sunset’. Nice to see Russ promoting you in such a lovely, supportive way.

Ladies, what a fantastic way to end a week and start the weekend before Christmas listening to nearly 3 hours of both of you on the radio, and many of your acoustic performances. I never heard the acoustic version of “The Wide, Wide, Land” which was so absolutely beautiful. “In It For love” and “Count on Me” performances were so delightful. Thank you both!

This is Fabulous and So Exciting! I heard last Years Christmas Show Live and it was really good. But to listen to all 3 was most enjoyable.
Even wishing Ms. Sonya. A Happy Birthday.

Thanks so much Ladies for sharing. This is an incredibly nice gift you are giving all of us. 22 days so far. And just a few left, which may be the best ones yet.
