Christmas Performances 2001

A long, long time ago …

… little Mona and Lisa scored the role as two snowflakes in our village’s Christmas “musical”.

Mona sang a bit flat and Lisa forgot to twirl at one point.

The other segments were filmed during our annual school performances that our class did each year. We came across it while going through our video archive and suddenly felt for all of you who had to sit through their children and grandchildren’s school performances this month. We hope you’re ok!

It got us thinking of all our former class mates, what they are doing now, thinking about the different life and career paths everyone decided to follow. It’s crazy how this bunch of kids all turned into adults now with complex lives and histories.

If ever there is an acceptable time to get nostalgic, we think Christmas is it! Do you still have memories from when you were in primary school? We’d love to hear your favourites if you don’t mind sharing. 🙂

Big hugs,
Mona & Lisa

You both were little darlings back then. You can see and feel the talent budding then. Look at what you both have achieved. You are talented and special. Really enjoyed this video.
Stay Groovy !!!!!!

This Advent Calendar is one of my favorite’s of the Clubhouse, your Dad had to know from this early on that you two were meant for showbiz and also realized the potential musical talent that brought you to the success you are now experiencing and sharing. I absolutely loved this video of you two at this age.

I do have two favourite German Christmas albums with traditional songs to whom I relate various memories from my childhood: The first is “Bald nun ist Weihnachtszeit” ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77ynHM0DEHw&index=5&list=RDk11rb03gYCk ) … Every year, from early childhood on, before Bescherung / “giving gifts” I watched a children’s show on TV, while my granny and mum were preparing the table in my room. As soon as a song from the record started to play and my grandparents and parents went into the sitting room, I knew that Santa Claus – or later, my granny and mum – had brought some gifts … 🙂 The second record / album is “Sind die Lichter angezündet” ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0BKdFm70E8 ). My granny has been a very creative person since I can remember. In primary school, once she came to a christmassy afternoon to our class and showed us how to do some lovely handicrafts. There were plates with oranges, nuts and sweets, and that record was played … 🙂

OMG before I even watched it I knew it was going to be adorable. You two were the cutest little twins back in the day. Thank you for sharing.

It just doesn’t get better than this. Tears of sweet joy running down my face as I watch you two munchkins. I have a beautiful daughter and son who are two years apart but were inseparable growing up. The memories of this time are truly invaluable. Getting to know your family resonates so strongly with me because all the same beautiful chords are being struck. I honestly feel like you are both a part of my family. And I feel so proud! Here is a pic of my kids…

Classic. You guys were great! Excellent twirling.

Jacki, I loved your story!

In my most “memorable” Christmas Pageant, I played one of the Wise Men (miscasting for sure). The headwear and robe were so hot I thought I might pass out right in the middle of the big finale. Things went from bad to worse when my knees locked and I started to feel nauseous. After desperately trying to hold my position a little longer, it was just no use. I was about to barf on the Shepherd in front of me. So I dropped my gift of frankincense on the floor and bolted stage right. I barely made it. There’s nothing like a little comedy to spice up the Nativity Scene. I was pretty sure I would be the laughing stock of Woodridge Elementary School. And I took some predicable ridicule from my friends, of course. But by the end of Christmas Vacation it was mostly forgotten. I think if I had delayed making my move by just a few seconds I might have become a neighborhood legend. They would probably still be talking about it today.

Precious Christmas memories!

The more i see about you…more love you girls.. you’re very very cute in this video ., in special the Lisa’s “lost tooth “.. and Mona playng the keyboard .. thanks for share this with us.. love you dear girls..????❤

That was so sweet it almost gave me diabetes!
I remember having to be in a play in third grade. It was a dance and we were wearing German clothing. I was shy & nervous as hell and hated to dance. But the girl I was paired with was cute so I put up with it. Alas there are no photos to share although I do remember seeing some a VERY long time ago.

Indeed.. Kinda painfully shy one… Almost 50 yrs I am and still vividly recall… Actually a few times in Kindergarten… Grade 1 and maybe Grade 3 but the other two definitely…and the K and Gr. 1 ones were plays our class did… One being ” The Night Before Christmas… I was one of extra Reindeer and my line to say was somewhere around the part of story before one opened up the window…Yep…I forgot or buggered up the line and felt more like Throwing Up… ( I didn’t but I think I cried onstage or afterwards when we were done with play)… The other 2 stage play parts I did with same kind of onstage nervousness was as one of the 3 kittens who lost their mittens story…. I was Flopsy the Rabbit in another play….
Still to this day… Not keen on getting up in front of people to speak or read poetry singing… Though I’m slowly getting better at it… At least not showing my nervousness as much… I’ve read at funeral and celebration of life services of family and friends but managed to keep it together at time but tears central after the fact… And even braved a few Kareoke attempts with friends????????… Love this of you both… A gem of a memory for you.. Thankyou for sharing ✌️☮️????????????????????????❤️????

How adorable! Thanks Ladies for sharing this moment!
I looked forward with great anticipation every year to Maria’s Christmas play. One year ( she was 6) she got to play Santa. As she came off the stage I handed her a Dozen Red Roses. All the moms were crying ???? and hitting the dads, asking “WHY DIDNT YOU DO THAT?” haha
I was the last “S” in Merry Christmas when I was 6. I had a “S” pinned to my shirt. I thought I was Superman. I was “Flying” all over the stage instead of staying where I was supposed to be. Got in so much trouble. Hahaha.
Thanks for the Memories Ladies.

So so cute and entertaining! And thank you for telling us which of you was which (Of course I had it wrong before the names popped up..lol). The thing that always strikes me about the two of you is how happy you are, always have been and how infectious that happiness truly is! Thank you for that! 😉

Thank you so much for the heartwarming insights into your private life. This is unique and you are just as unique in this industry.
Once again I’m sitting here, and once again my eyes are getting wet with tears of joy when watching the video…
Merry Christmas little big angels.

The video is just lovely with all the humorous commentaries, and how priceless! You were both so cute with such adorable smiles, and I’m glad the video indicated which one was Mona and Lisa because on some of the clips I couldn’t tell easily. Lisa you were especially adorable in that one scene where your missing tooth could be seen and you kept breaking out into smiles and laughter while singing, and Mona you looked so cute singing and keeping up with the teachers high notes in that one scene almost right up to the end, way to go! The video shows just how much you both love to sing from a very young age. Thanks for sharing this with us all, enjoyed it so much! 🙂

In Elementary school in Canada (Kindergarten to grade 7), the absolutely best and fun time in memory for me was an annual “Sports Day”event, when the whole school would go outside to participate in sports activities all day in a really festive atmosphere, with music, food (hot dogs never tasted so good!) and prizes. It was like a big fair with all kinds of sports activities: high jumps, long jumps, 100m sprints, sack races, hoola hoop competitions etc. You would get prizes or ribbons based on how you did. My favorite was the Tug of War where they would pit entire classes against another based on equal total weight on each side. It was interesting how the younger lower grades would usually beat out the higher grade 5 to 7 classes and come out on top. Usually a Kindergarten or grade 1 class would be the champions. I suspect the lower grades had the advantage of numbers (more feet on the ground) because the kids were smaller….
…..Lots of great memories from Sports Day.

Twelve years of Catholic School education when they still had nuns teaching most of the classes leaves you with many school days memories. And no, I’m not talking about getting smacked with a ruler or standing at the chalkboard with your nose firmly positioned in a circle drawn on the board.
We had several school plays and musical programs for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter each year. Lots of choir practice and band rehearsals ( I played trombone ). Many of the students I graduated from High School with were classmates for all of those 12 years I went to school and we had a whopping Graduating class of 48 seniors. Schoolmates were an extended family for me since so many families saw each other at Church, wedding, funerals and fall festivals and all the school functions mentioned earlier in addition to school attendance. I consider my school years as some of the best years of my life with many life long friends that I still socialize with today. Sadly, it’s getting to that part of my life when I’m attending more and more funerals for former classmates and their family members than I would like but that’s all part of this thing we call life. We’ve shared our joys and our sorrows together for more than 50 years now.

Wow! Just way too cute. From snowflakes of the local school to Prima donnas of the world in such a short time. Very impressive. I see Lisa was keen on taking the lead vocals from an early age. Much more fun than twirling!

Thank you for sharing. This is very heart warming. ????❤️
Growing up in Argentina, in a English/Scottish family I was put onstage early on to recite, sing and dance Scottish traditional songs and dance. Unlike you though, I had no clue what I was doing!

Very sweet, thank you!
