This graph shows the same information as the previous one, but for the MLT original songs. They follow the same sort of trend, but notice that the scaling is different.

      Hi David and Tomás,

I haven’t been able to check in much lately, but it’s nice to see the resident MLT statisticians are still hard at work. David, it’s cool to see some of the analysis you’re doing, addressing some of the questions I’ve had about viewing trends with new posts. I’ve got daily channel views and subscriber counts for pretty much every day since August 2022, but my spreadsheet skills are too rudimentary to do any legitimate analysis.

As for screenshots, as Tomás says, the snipping tool is the way to go for Windows users. It’s got much more flexibility than the venerable Print Screen.

David, keep up the amazing analytical work. It’s really fascinating stuff.

Thanks, David. My spreadsheet skills are pretty rudimentary too, but if you have your data arranged in an Excel file I could probably do some basic calculations and charts with them.

I had been wondering why there tends to be a plateau in views for videos on days five through seven that defies the general downward trend. Then it occurred to me that MLT releases most of their videos on Sundays (day zero), so the plateau corresponds to the weekend.

Thanks for the graphs David, the logarithmic scale is a great idea. It’s always fascinating to me to see these things.

A tip on getting screen grabs on Windows:
1- The PrtScn button captures the whole monitor display to the clipboard, use it with the Alt key and it only copies the active window, add the Win key and it automatically saves it to the Pictures\Screenshots folder (unless you’ve set another folder) as a PNG

2- You can use the “Snipping Tool” in the Windows Accessories with which you can snip any part of the screen (rectangular or freeform) and save a PNG, JPG, etc.

Thanks for the data & graphs!

Thanks, Tomás. It actually occurred to me yesterday that I could be doing these with “Print Screen” rather than taking photos… and then I forgot today!

For the last hour of January 14th, the public livestream is at V = 28896 and C = 1537. (The C values are going to be insanely high because the video is so long!)

That’s great to see so many thousands and thousands of view of the public livestream. Thanks for pulling those stats David. A very successful livestream I would say, they filled a huge football dome and more.

Almost all video views are up substantially! Now I’m not certain that it was because of the public livestream… but I’m certain that it was because of the public livestream. The most surprising one is I’m Looking Through You, which typically gets about 400 views a day: in January it averaged eight times that!

    Just for the record, Kansas City premiered at C = 1.36 (ranked 25) and V = 548 (ranked 24).

VERY encouraging, Dave! Thanks again! Only slight downer is ‘Vincent’ is sadly underrated just as it was back in the day for Don McLean. And ‘Everybody’s Talkin’ could use some recognition, too!

Agreed, Jeffery. Vincent isn’t too far out of the top 20 in views, though (V = 552, ranked 23rd). It usually gets between 300 and 400 views per day, but spiked in December for some reason. And Everybody’s Talkin’ is probably just suffering from the “sophomore slump” that all relatively new videos undergo as they seek their plateau viewing levels.

Looking at other numbers, the MLT Club membership was sitting in the 690 range for a while, glad to see it crossed the 700 threshold to 704 members.

So it looks like the abrupt upturn last month, presumably due to the public livestream, may have been just a spike and not a new plateau. However, the total number of views per day in February was about 3% higher than in December, so there was a modest net gain.
