Hey Bulldog – New Video

Hello on this fine Sunday,

We are currently working on several new projects, some more videos for our latest album WHY?, new recordings for a release later in the year, preparations for an upcoming trip and improvements to the MLT Club

While for us, all of this is important work, it’s not something we can put on our YouTube channel just yet. So, we thought instead of taking a break from uploading we would go back into the archives and post a series of “Live at the Cavern Club” videos, previously only available to MLT Club members as part of the exclusive content there.

So, from now on, until about Mid-August we will upload a new video every week from our days at Liverpool’s famous Cavern Club. Since it also happens to be “Global Beatles Day” today, we will kick it off with a Fab 4 cover of “Hey Bulldog“, one of their weirdest but certainly most wonderful songs. πŸ™‚ We will change it up between originals, Beatles and other 60’s covers these next few weeks.

Of course, if you love what you’re hearing you can always get the full double live album (28 songs!) of that performance at our online store or joint the MLT Club for immediate access to all of the videos and audio streaming.

Get “Live at the Cavern Club”!

“Live at the Cavern Club” is available on CD and as a download. It’s a double album with 28 songs (almost 90 minutes of music) all recorded during our 100th (and final) show at the legendary Cavern Club on Mathew Street in Liverpool.

If you’re an MLT Club member all your purchased CDs will get signed by us!

Great fun, great music and so good also to see the guys really getting into it also! πŸ‘πŸ»

It is my favorite song and I love your renditions of it: raw, as it has to be. But if you want to show a new version, why don’t you try the version by Fanny? The Beatles gave them the permission for an additional verse at the time. And I feel that you might be quite at home with their style.

You both bring a special kind of joy to this 71 year-old from the USA, as did The Beatles when they first popped up on our shores 59 years ago when I was almost 12.

Hi, I have all of your albums and enjoy them all. All of you are fantastic musicians including bass & drums, Oh ya dad. I was in a 60/70’s covers band called Gold for over 20 years we had Tony Hadley sing with us at a wedding, Bass player Jim Rodford helped us out on a gig one night. What ever you two do, you do it right and you look as if you are enjoying it. John.

Hay bulldog is one of The Beatles most underrated songs. You prove how worthy it is for people to hear it, heck, you do it better than The Beatles!

Love your guitar work. Is there anything you girls can’t do?? Not a fan of the song at all, sorry. Maybe I’m getting too old! After all, I did see the Beatles live for the first time aged 13. You are extremely talented and I love your harmonising and energy!

As a live sound engineer it’s a pet peeve of mine but happens a lot with live recording the vocals not quite cutting through the mix properly

The argument goes something like this
Artist: Can we have more vocal
Engineer: Your mics are maxed out
Artist: but you can’t hear us properly
Engineer: they won’t mind they will be singing along anyway
Artist: but we need more vocals
Engineer: can’t BLAH BLAH BLAH feedback BLAH BLAH

HOW IT SHOULD END
Artist: do your job and ring the mics out properly or turn everything else down slightly

How it usually ends
Artist: Oh ok then.

Best bit – the fantastic, involuntary smile that followed “Big man” ….. “YEAAAHH” from our drummer.

Think you girls (along with your entire band of course) did a fantastic job of Hey Bulldog which is one my absolute favorite Beatles songs of all time. Wonderful cover, you did! Well done!

Hey, just got this message: Mona Lisa belongs to the Louvre museum in Paris,
that means that I can bring you to France with your website.
Hope you make a lot of new friends, girls!
greets, jan

Hi, pleasant fun, great music, well done ->(like a steak in the kitchen) and very enjoyable to find online. Say hi to the drummer too, will you!
Thanks from Belgium – Jan
small question: do you have Hey Jude in your repertoire, and if so, would you bring it online please?

excellent as always. Just make the versions yours while staying true to the Beatles.

Took me a few days to get to this, my e-mail is all messed up, but glad I finally tracked it down enjoyed that very much! Thanks!

Your Beatles covers are just AMAZING. I’m not purchasing Live at the Cavern…because I did it already, But I’d consider buying it on DVD

Dear MLT, Thank you for “Hey Bulldog” video. It was a nice surprise to
see in my “Inbox”. I love seeing you on stage at the Cavern Club. It looks
like you’re having so much fun. The Great Rock&Roll makes me want to dance. The guitar work is fantastic. I can hear both guitars clearly playing flawlessly.I love your work. Cheers, Mark

Love that rendition of Bulldog! One of the things on my “bucket list” is to see the Mona Lisa Twins live at the Cavern Club.

Well played for sure. Wondering how much time you two spend figuring how to play and sing these songs. Being honest, a huge Beatle fan, but this is not one of my favorites. Good job…………jim

Great cover by the twins! Of course I think everything they do is great!🎸🎀

This is what I wrote on the MLT FB about this song…
I love Mona in this video! Both Mona and Lisa are great on the guitars! 🎸 ⭐ ⭐ πŸ’–

To be honest it is not a song I was familiar with, so I listened to the original and your version and I have to say you sounded way better then the Beatles on this track. Well done this was a fantastic version and the vocals so good.

One word: GREAT! I really love the Beatles songs that you play! Wish you would come over to Holland one day!

Another great rendition of a Beatle classic. You girls have truly grabbed the heart of Beatle music, and along with your fresh spin on these songs, have put that raw energy into each number just like the Beatles did so many years ago.I wish you much success in your careers. Yeah, Yeah, Yeah.

Fantastic version of a very weird, but compelling song. You’ve convinced me – I have to get the album – but first I have to get a DVD plug-in player for my new computer (I assumed all new computers had this feature, but apparently not).

Thanks for sharing, and keep them coming – new and old.

Ned in Nevada – a proud member of the Mona Lisa Twins club (or whatever you call it).

Fine. More original content. More original content. That is where your greatness lies. Time to leave home.

Never heard this Beatles gem before I heard your version and it really blew me away. Such superb guitar sounds and rocking vocals that lift and rock me to to the groove. I know the Beatles wrote Hey Bulldog, but it’s your magic that makes this song for me. Brilliant! πŸ‘πŸ˜ŠπŸ§‘

There is no mistake, I am an original fan of the Beatles…and you ladies continue to bring a new, crispness to the old favorites! Have you ever heard from Paul or Ringo re: your covers? If I were them I would have to say KUDOS.

M & L, After I heard this on your Marathon Run video, I’m so glad you released this! ANY Beatles song you play I’ll be happy with, but I love this Quirky piece! Who’s your drummer there? I really like watching his technique, and my students commented on enjoying his playing too! Dog barks & all, it’s a GREAT version! — Bud

Maravillosa versiΓ³n rockera de un temazo de The Beatles. Me apetece verlas en la versiΓ³n mΓ‘s psicodΓ©lica y experimental como Dear prudence, por ejemplo.

EsperarΓ© ese momento.

You are a brilliant pair !! I wish I lived nearer to Liverpool !!

I love it. Tremendous enthusiasm. You can’t go wrong with the Beatles.

You certainly get The Beatles and I love your guitar tones. If you ever decide to come to Canada (South Central Ontario), please let me know. I’m looking forward to whatever you do next.

Once again a haunting kool kover by the girls & i love the howling of Lisa…the icing on the cake!

That’s just a great version of a song I have always really liked a lot — it’s so underrated.

It’s so great to see you live, with the give and take and interaction, doubling the lines on guitars and on the vocals, taking leads, singing and yeah, barking. That’s classic MLT, all your live strengths in one song. Great choice to start out the series.

Thanks so much for telling us what the plan is!! I love it! I’ve been waiting for the Janitor Joe vid. My grand nephew Joe is in grade school, loves astronomy and music, I will be showing him that vid as soon as it’s out. I can only imagine what it will be like. zzzzooooommmmmm.

Are you saying you will have another new album of original music out in the fall? Is that what you were saying — “new recordings for a release later in the year” ?

A trip sounds good. And every time you post, literally anything, is an improvement to the Club.

Love That Song well done a Great version.
I am a Songwriter and I have 2 Early Beatle sounding Recordings that I would love you to listen too.
I can send you link to them or even a MP3 Version . I would Love to hear from you

Another great version of yet another brilliant tune from the musical masters!

Hi girls!

Lovely Mona & cute Lisa on stage and a great rockin’ kover by the girls. What’s more you need dudes!
ps Kool lovely barkings by Lisa…a great moment in fact!

Sounds like a busy summer. Don’t forget to have some fun. I love all the Cavern Club videos. I think Pretty Flamingo would be another good one for YouTube>
