Look What They’ve Done To My Song, Ma – New Video

We vaguely remember …

… covering this song on a radio station many, many years ago but hadn’t played it since. That’s until we decided to revisit it for a Duo Session! We love this song and Melanie’s music in general. “Look What They’ve Done To My Song, Ma” is one of those quirky gems from the past.

We’ve done “Michelle” by the Beatles (on our very first live album) and now “Look What They’ve Done To My Song, Ma”, so we think you’ve heard us butcher the French language enough now, and we’ll probably leave it at that. Unless you can think of other songs with French lyrics that we really need to cover? We do apologise to all the Frenchmen, lol.

We’ve recorded a lot more Duo Sessions over at the MLT Club and will soon release the new Duo Session II album! Watch this space 😃

A huge shoutout and thank you to Journey Instruments for providing us with these stunning instruments. Believe it or not, this guitar and bass can both be folded in half and fit neatly into a bag the size of a backpack. If you’re in the market for a (travel) guitar or bass, definitely give them some consideration, they have lots of models to choose from.

Facebook Page Hacked

You might remember that a few weeks ago our Facebook page (and at the time, YouTube as well) had been hacked.

The issue on Facebook never fully got resolved and some of you might have noticed that our page currently looks like an absolute mess. The profile picture is a photo of just Mona (no, she’s not starting a solo career) and all posts from the last 4 years have been deleted. This has not been a creative decision on our part 😅

Basically, for the last few weeks we weren’t able to access our own page at all, and whoever is now in control of the page has been messing with it. Facebook is supposedly “on the case” but the support is insanely slow to say the least.

There are also fake weight loss ads being run with our account, despite Facebook assuring us that that’s impossible as our ad account has been disabled. Yet, many of you have been sending us screenshots of these ads. Go figure.

Facebook claims they are working on it but we have no idea how long it will be until we get access to our page again. We just thought we’d update you in case anyone is confused about our lack of posts there.

We are plenty busy with other things in the meantime but wish us luck anyway!

Thanks for reading, we hope you’ll enjoy watching the new video!

Stay groovy,

Mona & Lisa

Aqualung – Jethro Tull – What’s On The Table

Hey Aqualung … !

For today’s “What’s On The Table” episode we’re diving into the genius of Ian Anderson. “Aqualung” was Jethro Tull’s 4th studio album and released in 1971. We know some of you here are big prog rock fans but even if you’re not, we hope you’ll enjoy this video and will get a kick out of the band’s incredibly playing and clever songwriting. There’s so many fun moments on this record!

As always, we love hearing your thoughts on the album. Your favourite songs, takeaways and memories connected to the record. And if you’re not (very) familiar with Jethro Tull’s music, what’s your first impression of “Aqualung”? Let’s chat in the comments!

Janitor Joe – New Video

A new music video just landed 🚀

“Janitor Joe” is a song off our latest album “WHY?”, and we are so excited to be able to share with you a music video for it! Follow Joe’s story from janitor to retirement in outer space!

It’s unlike any other video we’ve ever released, not least because it’s actually the first time in MLT history that somebody else created a video for us.

The animation was done by Natalie A. Palumbo, a motion graphics designer from New York who has also been an MLT fan for many years. We sent her the song, a very rough story board and off she went to create this wonderfully trippy video!

If you’re an MLT Club member you can watch the behind-the-scenes interview with her over on our website. Becoming a member is the best way to support new music and videos.

Get “WHY?”

If you like the song and want to hear more, you can get it on our album “WHY?” which came out last year and is available on CD, Vinyl and as a Download!

If you’re an MLT Club member all your purchased CDs and Vinyl will automatically get signed by us, and you will also get access to many behind-the-scenes videos about the record! And of course, you can stream the entire album (actually, ALL albums) online immediately after sign-up.

We also offer “Studio Scribbles” for all singles off the album and just created some for Janitor Joe as well. They are limited-edition art prints of scribbles and notes taken during the writing of the song “Janitor Joe”. Each print is numbered (1-100), and signed by both of us!

If you like the song, please share it far and wide. Leave comments below and on YouTube, sing it out loud and have a good time 🙂

Big hugs to you all!!

American Woman – The Guess Who – What’s On The Table

Two Austrians talk about “American Woman” by four Canadians

We come back to this album every few years and are repeatedly surprised by its creativity and harmonies. Not all of you will be intimately familiar with The Guess Who, especially if you’re from the UK or Europe but we’re sure the North American MLT Clubbers will have a lot more to say about this album.

In today’s WOTT episode we dive into this 1970s album “American Woman”. We picked it up years ago at a vinyl sale in Liverpool, and the music has stayed with us ever since.

We always love to hear from you on these vinyl discussion videos so please join the conversation in the comment section. 🙂 What do you think of The Guess Who? Do you know / own the album? Where were you when you first heard the music? We love hearing your stories!

Janitor Joe – Behind The Scenes (ft. Natalie Palumbo)

A Conversation With Natalie Palumbo

Last week we posted the video for our song “Janitor Joe” here in the MLT Club for Early Access. If you haven’t seen it yet click here to watch it first. Otherwise, today’s video/interview won’t make much sense to you!

It’s the first time in MLT history that we had someone else create a music video for us! Despite our passion for video-making we recognised that we don’t always have to do EVERYTHING ourselves, especially when others with talent can and want to get involved!

In today’s video we talk to Natalie Palumbo, the lovely person that animated “Janitor Joe” for us. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation and collaboration! 🙂

She Loves You – New Video

“She Loves You” …

The UK’s best-selling single of the 60s. If you had to describe the British invasion or Beatlemania in one song, “She Loves You” would be a pretty darn good pick, wouldn’t you agree?

The Beatles and the Cavern Club go hand in hand. After all, if it wasn’t for the Beatles who played in the original Cavern Club nearly 300 times, it would not have earned its nickname “the most famous club in the world”.

So when we had the opportunity to play there 100 times between 2014 and 2016, we always made sure to pack as many Beatles tunes into our setlist as we could. After all, they were the reason so many people visited this Club, every single day of the year.

While we didn’t stick to a “Beatles only” setlist and snuck plenty of other covers and our originals into the mix, we still made sure every Beatles fan who attended would leave the place feeling satisfied. And “She Loves You” was always a fan favourite 🙂

It’s one of those songs that’s way more complex than it seems, and to make it sound good at the Cavern was trickier than it might look on video. But we loved it. A classic, important tune that definitely belonged on the set list.

We hope you enjoy the video,
Mona & Lisa

For What It’s Worth – New Video

Stop children, what’s that sound?

… It’s music dwelling through the depths of the Cavern Club again!

We hope you all had a great week. Let’s ring out the weekend with another upload from our Cavern Club series.

This one has been part of our repertoire for as long as we can remember. It’s a song you can play as big, fast, loud, quiet or intimate as you want and it doesn’t really lose on impact.

The lyrics are strong and, unfortunately, continue to be relevant to this day.

Hope you like it!

Consider joining the MLT Club to watch all 28 Cavern Club videos at once, stream the entire album, and if you choose to get the double album, get it signed.

Hugs,

She’s A Woman – New Video

It was the B-Side to “I Feel Fine” …

… but never made it onto an official Beatles album – unless you count those released many years later, or “Beatles ’65” which was only an American release at the time.

We love the energy and the backbeat of this song and it’s one that the audience always liked, whether they were Beatles fans or not. Something about the way it builds, the way the chorus contrasts the quite laid-back verses … 👌

It’s a song that fit in the Cavern Club perfectly, and we hope you’ll enjoy our little take on this Paul McCartney penned song, too!

Hopefully you’re not sick of our weekly Sunday uploads yet! 😉 We’ll keep posting a few more Cavern Club clips until we’re ready to share some new music videos with you. To get access to all 28 video clips of this performance straight away you might want to consider joining the MLT Club!

Take care and stay groovy!

Paint It Black – New Video

I see a red door …

… and I want it painted black. Black like the doors to the Cavern Club …

Welcome to another clip from our “Live at the Cavern Club” series! We’ll post a few more of these 2016 live performances in the weeks to come. Thanks for the kind comments and awesome feedback on our previous uploads!

We love this hauntingly beautiful Stones track. A few years prior to this performance we had already recorded an acoustic version of it (you can watch it here) but we loved adapting it back to a full-band track for our live shows.

Hope you enjoy!

Don’t forget that you can get the live double album here or join the MLT Club to watch all 28 Cavern Club videos at once (and get your albums signed!).

Stay groovy and we’ll catch you next week!
