Tell Me Why – New Video

Time For a Beatles Cover

While we’re working on new music videos for our album WHY? and some new Duo Sessions, we wanted to release one from the archives!  🙂

This video was filmed during our final Cavern Club performance in 2016. It got released on our album “Live at the Cavern Club” and the video was always available to watch in the MLT Club, but we decided to upload it to the official YouTube channel now for you all to see.

Talk about an underrated Beatles song!

From the minute we first tried “Tell Me Why” during a rehearsal we knew it would be a great addition to the Cavern Club set. It screams “1964”, doesn’t it? Solid 3-part harmonies and some high energy 60s pop.

It’s hard to understand why this song wasn’t a single … until you look at the rest of the “A Hard Day’s Night” track-list and realise that you could say the same about any of the songs!

We don’t need to tell you how much we loved playing this, we think it shows 😉 A big shout-out to Charlie Skeggs on drums and Callum Williams on bass!

To watch all 28 videos/songs from that night, feel free to join the MLT Club!

One for the Vinyl Lovers!

You might have read it last week but we’d love to tell you again!

Our most recent original album “WHY?” is now out on vinyl, available at our online store and ready to ship!

You ladies need to come to Fallsview Casino and Resort here in Canada. We’d love you!!!

Y’all got it down perfect! I found y’all through Facebook and glad I did. I grew up on the Beatles, who inspired me to take up the guitar so many years ago. Just listened to your “Why” album and I’m definitely hooked. Thanks for the music!

Great interpretation of a lasting gem of a song. New energy on this musical “place in time.”

This still resonates after all these years. Great reading ladies of a Beatles classic, which takes on even more significance being recorded live at 10 Mathew St.

I love what you did with this. This is right in your wheelhouse – the harmonies make this song and you are always so amazing at harmonies.

I see some people not remembering this song, and then I remember that, yes, I did grow up with that album. My oldest sister told me recently, no, she didn’t buy it, my mother loved the Beatles and bought their albums.

After I saw your video, I watched the Beatles do it, and yes, there’s that 3 part harmony, only Ringo wasn’t singing.

I love seeing Mona channeling her inner John Lennon in this and other songs. Rock and roll’s in your blood Mona. Me too.

Twining as usual!! 🙂 Thank you for keeping Beatles music alive and for your talents!!! Love this Video! Super job!

I’ll Tell You Why I like this song and your cover version. It reminds me of being in Junior High School, 8th grade around 1964 and ’65. Beatlemania hit the Buffalo, N.Y. AM radio airwaves. We lived in the suburbs east of Buffalo, N.Y. back then, a different time of my life and a different area of America from where we are now. Thank you MonaLisa Twins.

Jim: good to see I’m not the only oldtimer to fall for the Twins and their band!

Great Performance. In addition to loving you girls, I really like and enjoy Charlie & Callum playing & singing with you. Do you keep in contact with them? I hope if you ever play live again that they could join you.

If anyone likes the early Beatles’ songs, check out “Ask Me Why”, which was the flip side of “Please, Please Me”. Great song.

Dear Twins, Thank you for the video. “Tell Me Why” You did a fantastic job on it.
I love the vocals and also the energy on your fresh new version. In 1964 my twin
sister and I were eight years old. Mom brought home “A Hard Days Night” for us,
and we listened to it nonstop. “Tell Me Why” was just one of my favorites off of
the album that started me on a lifelong love of Rock and Roll. Cheers, Mark

Sounds GREAT! Keep it up!!
I have been on that stage! (Unfortunately, not playing)

absolutely FAB great harmony’s you girls need to get back to touring with someone mentioned it to EDs PA lets hope

Great vocals, instrumentals and great music! The Mona Lisa Twins are great role models for young girls today. May their popularity continue to grow . . .

This is just one of the Cavern Club series videos I watch every week or two. (A few of my favorites are only available on the MLT Club website.) I wish I had known how great these ladies were back then and had been able to see them play live. I love the music, but I also like watching how they keep the crowd going through each song. Even the bouncers are into the music!

Lovely voices. Great timing, such good renditions/covers. Love these two girls.

Always love any rendition of Beatles numbers by these two lovely ladies. I was a teenager in the 60’s so it was THE music which is so indelibly printed in my mind. Along of course with The Rolling Stones.

A great choice for your harmonics and a pleasure to hear an early Beatles song sung in a manner becoming its worth.

I think the reason why this song not became a single, is, that the lyrics: “Tell me why you cry and why you lie to me?” are too negative, because of the word “lying”. That did not fit into the attitude of “She loves you”, “The night before”, “I need you”, “Can’t buy me love” and so on. But that is just an assumption.

I don’t know Tom, you may be correct. Their song “I’m a Loser”, was not a single either, lol. Take care,
Bobby S.

Fabulous, fun and your music is always so uplifting, and this song take me back to my early teenage years!

Like always a stellar version of a Fab Four oldie. Such a great ear for doing the songs well.

I would give a lot to be able to go back to see that Cavern show. I love, love, LOVE Mona with her Rickenbacker and Lisa with her Gretsch just belting out the song – Love Mona’s rock lead vocal too.
I’ll do even more to see them the next time they play live…another great thing about the Christmas livestream…

I came across one of your Christmas videos on Facebook and was hooked. You ladies are wonderful and talented!

Hi Dave,
Yeah that song was in the film “A Hard Day’s Night” and on that album.
Take care,
Bobby S.

Fantastic! Can’t tell you how glad I am that MLT covers the Beatles! May I please humbly request a cover of ‘Where Have You Been All My Life’? I love the song, and it was a part of the Beatles’ repertoire early on when they were in Hamburg. Thank you MLT for all you are doing!

very nice job. These girls are really talented. I love the version the beatles did, but they nailed it every bit as good as they did. great harmonies, sound, and the way they play their instruments. Keep up the good sounds.

Great sound. One of your best live covers. Is that Charlie Skeggs on the drums by any chance?

Yes Tony,
Charlie is on drums and Callum Williams on bass & singing harmony.
Aren’t they both great?
Take care,
Bobby S.

Mona Lisa another fantastic cover Tell Me Why ” The singing is incredible and the music was brilliant, Your guitar playing is flawless along with the bass and drums. You have a great group and you play excellent. No matter what song you play it sounds great

Lou, a big fan.

Captures the feel of the time of the music perfectly, and performed beautifully. Great stuff.

Wish the complete concert would be out on DVD. I know you addressed this before about how you think too few would buy a DVD these days. I beg to differ. Let us fan know if you ever reconcider. Thanks. Love the new tunes too.

Yes Rick, I concur, I love videos on DVD.
I have the DVD of videos, “When We’re Together”, by Mona & LIsa. It is great.
I wish there would be dvds of “Orange” and “Why?” videos.
I would buy them all.
Take Care,
Bobby S.

I “discovered” the Mona Lisa Twins last year and have become a big fan. As a huge Beatles fan, I’ve never liked hearing their songs performed by other artists, but Mona & Lisa do a great job!! Thank you, ladies.
