    Hi John,

We get a lot of great requests everyday and love that people think of songs that they believe would suit us. We have a list of potential songs we might give a go and we sometimes add people’s suggestions to it, if it’s one we really like and haven’t thought of yet.

In the end we simply chose the songs that we love the most!

But of course, there are many things that also play a role in our decision-making to various degrees: Whether we resonate with the song, whether we think we could make the song our own, whether it works for a Duo Session / Full Arrangement (depending on what we’re trying to record at the time), whether we have a special personal relationship to that song, whether we really like the message/lyrics of the tune, whether we think it would do well on YouTube or be an MLT Club song only, whether we’re intrigued by the challenge of covering it, whether we’ve covered the artist before or want to try something new, etc. etc. etc.

There isn’t really one “recipe” we go with, when it comes to picking these songs. The most important thing is that we feel excited about the idea of covering that tune. If we do, then it’s usually a fun process and we’re happy with the outcome 🙂

Lisa, what an extremely well written and thought out answer to a very difficult to answer question!
