Junk – New Video

“Junk” by Paul McCartney …

When we first heard this song, it took our breath away. It’s Paul McCartney at his best. The melody, the chord progression, the subject matter, the way he manages to sing about something so deep in an incredibly light, moving and poetic way. It is one of those perfect songs.

We were hesitant to give it a go. It’s hard to compete with perfection. But then, what we do has never been about “improving” on any of the songs we cover. We pick songs because we love them, because we want to honour them and to experience performing and interpreting them ourselves. We like tapping into the magic of these songs and the people that created them.

We hope you enjoy this Duo Session as our Christmas present this year.

Junk, from Paul’s 1st solo album, McCartney has always been one of my many favorites. Most people have no idea it exists at all. Back in 1970, it seemed that the rock and roll media (Rolling Stone mostly) wanted to make certain Paul would fail on his own. Obviously, he didn’t, but many folks bought into the propaganda so they wouldn’t buy his albums, especially this one. I went out and bought this album unheard, went to a friend’s house, put it on her turntable and I heard Maybe I’m Amazed 1st. We both looked at each other and she said, “This IS the Beatles! And Paul does all the vocals and instruments himself?” At that time I was so thankful that “my Beatles” will continue on just separately for the most part. John’s, Imagine, George’s, All Things Must Pass, and Ringo’s, It Don’t Come Easy.

Wow – this might be my new MLT favorite: 1.) I did not know this beautiful song before. 2.) It is great to see live bass-work. 3.) The electric duo-setup works very well and still has a nice unplugged feel. 4.) It is a wonderful visual experience too.

Simply exquisite! Wondrous lead from Lisa, beautifully striking harmonies, and the perfectly appropriate bass in Mona’s hands! I can’t wait ’til you find time to release another “Duo Sessions” CD!

Nicely done….I don’t recall ever hearing Paul’s version…I’m sure I did at one time or another as I have all his early stuff on LP but haven’t played any LP’s in years…I see Mona stealing Papa Rudi’s thunder playing the bass😂good job Mona …we really don’t see you on bass much as your dad generally plays it…he needed a day off…Merry Christmas to you all…Mona..Lisa..Papa Rudi..Michaela and to all the MLT Club members 🎄

Great, great, great and well done . That was on my wish-list one year ago when I became a Club Member. It’s one of Paul’s best ‘little’ pieces. Thank you Mona & thank you Lisa and stay….you know what I mean .

What a way to start our frosty cold Friday with 2 lovely angel voices singing this beautiful song by Sir Paul. Lovely melody , perfect blend of voices and Mona doing a great job on the bass. This is why you both are so good at your craft, you take a song and never take the essance of the melody and the menaing of the song and make it your own without any blemishes. God bless you both and can’t wait for the live stream.
Hugs and Love from Bill and Maddie Isenberg
