Dream A Little Dream Of Me – New Video

Sweet dreams till sunbeams find you …

Isn’t this song just beautiful? Written in 1931 and still popular and beloved 93 years later. That’s the power of a good song!

Countless people have covered it over the decades (most famously Mama Cass) and we understand why – it’s so much fun to sing! You might have heard us play this tune during one of our Livestreams but we just knew that we wanted to record a proper Duo Session with it, too.

Which version comes to mind for you first when you hear this song?

We hope you all will sleep wonderfully tonight and will dream a little dream of your loved ones ♥

Mona & Lisa

More Duo Sessions …

These Duo Sessions are initially recorded for and released in the MLT Club – our paid fan club on our website. There, we post weekly videos along with much more music than what you’ll find on our official YouTube channel.

The MLT Club allows us to stay independent and live as full-time musicians and songwriters. If you’d like to support our journey and enjoy a LOT more content in return – like regular additional Duo Sessions – feel free to check it out …

So far, we’ve released two volumes of “The MLT Club Duo Sessions” on CD, and the third will be released once we’ve recorded enough songs for another edition. “Dream A Little Dream Of Me” isn’t currently on any released album, but you can find 29 other Duo Session recordings on the first two albums.

Tote Bags!

Last but not least, we want to mention our Tote Bags again. We had introduced them last year for MLT Club members first, but then accidentally forgot to enable the product for sale to everyone. So for a while it couldn’t be purchased by the general public – only MLT Club members. That was not how we intended it to be, and we recently noticed and fixed it!

So, if you’d like to grab a MonaLisa Twins tote bag, now ANYONE can get one from our online shop!

Stay groovy,
Mona & Lisa

  1. I didn’t realize the song was that old. I just remember Mama Cass singing. You’ve made a another beautiful rendition.

  2. I’ve been trying to think of something new to say about Mona and Lisa and whatever song they happen to be singing…. I’m going to sound like a broken record…but you can see that they certainly put their hearts into it and The expressions on their faces, while they are singing takes that particular song to a different level! They are not just performing, they become the song and the music…. we are very lucky now that we not only get to listen to great music. We also get to watch great musicians….. I’ve yet to be disappointed!🎶🤓

  3. I just posted the link to my daughter in New Zealand. She has a guitar and her partner just bought a banjo so I suggested they cover your cover (subbing the banjo for the uke).I don’t suppose they will but I like to think of them working on it.

  4. Lol…Got to laugh here… the concensus is this, besides myself … it’s nice to know that I’m not alone in thinking Cass ‘ (I’m sorry / my apologies but I cringe at the ” Mama Cass” reference , I prefer to refer as Cass Elliot …. to/for me , I associate with it in a negatively way of that for her because to me it ‘s in reference to her size/weight , which in my opinion/perspective is a tad disrespectful … She should of been recognized / focused more for her gifted vocals instead of how she looked/weight thing , and I’ll always feel sorry for her having being in constant reminder of that about her …. I only wish she was respected moreso as a whole person with gifted vocals – especially during her Solo career )
version was the original not knowing she was doing a cover, and that it was originally from before she was born … I’m in Awe of that consensus factor… how most of us here, perhaps globally, folks are familiar only with Cass’ version and not realizing it was from before she was born … ✌️🫶

  5. I have all 12 MLT CDs, including the 2 Duo Sessions and every one is great! There are many hours of wonderful listening here, & I’ll definitely grab the 3rd Duo Session CD as soon as it comes out! I use the MLT Tote Bag all the time, especially for carrying music when I get called for Music Substitute jobs, now that I’m retired!

This new version of “Dream a Little Dream of Me” is a perfect interpretation of this beautiful song! The only other version I know is Cass Elliot’s version, who I’ve always associated with this song. I still like her rendition of course, but now I will always think of Lisa & Mona whenever I hear this song!

Lisa has a certain tenderness in her voice when she sings ballads such as this! I Love Mona’s Guitar accompaniment with Lisa’s Ukulele playing, & Mona harmonizes so delicately & beautifully! This video performance is truly Enchanting, and the perfect song to listen to before bedtime!

    1. Hey Bud…. congratulations on retirement! That’s a scary word for me…. Hope you enjoy all of your free time now that is awesome! 🤓🤙

      1. Well thank you Tim!

I retired 3 years ago, and it’s nice to not have to work every day! I do still teach Music as a Substitute when I’m needed; sometimes for 4 or 5 months at a time. But I still enjoy it, and I also play in a 20-piece Big Band Jazz group too! I like to exercise and hike a little, so I’m keeping busy!

I used to play in a “Blues Brothers” group. Didn’t you say that you sing in a Band like that? We would play gigs all around the area. I’d like to hear about your Band!

        Take it easy! — Bud

      2. Bud, I guess I just heard you talking about your students I thought you were still teaching… I only did a couple little humorous gigs… as Elwood…. I faked playing the harmonica… But we actually did real good! I don’t play any music or instruments except I can slowly read music and play a piano… I guess I played the trumpet in high school if that counts? Being a workaholic that word retirement scares me… So I was only kidding! In a few days, I turn 65 so I guess I could retire😳…. Life is too good right now. I don’t want to shake it up with too many drastic changes! You have a good one!🤓

      3. Tim,

If you’re not ready to retire, then hold off by all means! The routine can be good. But it is nice to sleep in when I feel like it or do other things besides work! Sometimes I used to think that maybe I should do something different, especially with behavior issues, or just from the work overload. But I came to realize that the problem kids really do need us teachers!

And I made a living teaching Music, playing, & doing those things that I wanted to do anyway. Like rehearse, plan concerts & trips & perform. And see students improve & show enthusiasm & appreciation! So it was worth it! And it’s a better way for me to make extra money now, plus I feel appreciated by the different schools for helping them out when a teacher is absent. BUT, yeah, days off are nice!

Did you sing with the group you were in, or fake it to background Music? It doesn’t matter that much as long as everyone is having fun! Whatever you do in life, it’s best to keep busy, but also to take care of yourself!

        Thanks for sharing! — Bud

      4. Bud, we sang two songs, Soul Man…. and Sweet Home Chicago. It was a live band with the saxophone and it sounded really good. Elwood doesn’t sing a lot in those two songs so I did great!🤓. And at the end of Sweet home Chicago, we had the local police take us off the stage and around back similar to the movie. It actually was very cool. We’ve done it in the city park and at a local venue each time there was 300 to 400 people there… it went over very well! 🤓🎶

      5. That sounds great Tim! I’ll bet you had a lot of fun, and the crowd really appreciated your act! How long did you spend in jail??

        (Just kidding!) — Bud

  6. A delicate little song so delicately sung. Once again your playing and your harmonies add so much more. I’m sure Mona and Lisa could lull me to sleep with their rendition of this sweet song 🤗 ❤

  7. This was absolutely beautiful Mona and Lisa. I know I have said this in the past and please forgive me but your voices blend so lovely together. Thru out music history there are very few groups / duo’s that can blend with such wonderful sound and you both go beyond that. No one out do’s the other you just simply blend softly and lovely. In my mind they sound like heaven to me and puts a smile on my heart. Mona kuto’s on the guitar playing and Lisa love the ukulele. Mama Cass is looking down from the 27 club smiling. So when I pull up this video right before you both sing…..I say …And now here’s Mona and Lisa with a lovely ballet….! Hugs and Love from Bill and Maddie Isenberg Huge fans from Pittsburgh Pa USA

  8. That was so beautiful. I love your version. Beautiful melodies and harmonies. Great acoustic work, Mona. Simply perfectly beautiful.
As for other versions, I love Doris Day, but the version that comes to mind is the one by the Mamas and Papas.

  9. What a beautifully sung and played version of this song. Lisa, you have a way of making you solos very heartfelt and Mona’s smooth and uncluttered guitar support allowed the beauty of the song, your incredible harmonies and the warmth of the melody to come through. You almost made me forget Mama Cass (who was from my city, BTW) and her tender version. Thanks for starting off my Monday morning in a loving way as only the MonaLisa Twins can do it!!! Bri

  10. Absolute magic. One of my late wife’s favourites, especially Mama Cass’ version. Brought tears to my eyes, your harmonies and the precision of your playing are superb.

  12. The old 60s songs are all well and good, but how about some modern covers. We can’t live in the past forever!

  13. I didn’t realize it was from 1931. I only knew the Mama Cass version, so I always assumed it came out of the 1960s. You’ve done a beautiful job with it.

  14. Such a sweet rendition! You’re right, this song is still beautiful after 93 years! Thanks for sharing.

  15. I remember the song, don’t remember Cass’s version too well, but I expect I’ll always remember yours. That is truly lovely, thank you.

  16. Beautifully done!

Sorry I haven’t been very active as I’m being pulled in a thousand directions lately. Mom had her 86th birthday on Monday, then fell on Friday and broke her hip.

I did Zoom Chat with her today. (Had surgery Friday and is now in rehab) So I shared a couple of your Beatles videos and If You Raise Your Head – BEST SONG EVER! (Yay Mona!)

She enjoyed those videos. You also got compliments from the nurse whose mother was in the audience when the Fab Four was on the Ed Sullivan show in 1964!

Love to all and stay groovy!
    Patrick

      1. Thank you, Bud. Her dementia has helped as she doesn’t remember falling or getting hurt. She always enjoys when I show her a Beatles video by MLT – though she thinks she’s seeing them for the first time.

    1. Hi Patrick
So sorry to hear about your Mom. Best wishes to her, and hoping for a speedy recovery. This hits close to home for me as my mom fell and broke her hip too in her 80s many years ago. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your Mom!
      Best,
      Jung

    2. Patrick, I’m sorry for your mother’s condition. I know too well the ravages of dementia and Alzheimer’s. Glad she is in very capable hands. Keep playing the songs for her too!

  17. Always loved this song. Of course the Case Elliot (Mamas and Papas) version is the one I know best, before this one. My older sister used to sing it, and it always brings her to mind too, so that’s a nice bonus. A another home run rendition by Mona and Lisa.

  18. Like most people my knowledge of this song for many years was Mama Cass. This changed in 1995 when Beautiful South released their version of it with Jacqui Abbott on lead vocals. I have to say that I grew to love this version, and especially the video that was made to promote it with a cinema usherette becoming a part of a film that was on the big screen.

  19. That’s a fabulous version – it really is – even better than the earlier one that you posted. Your vocal harmonies and the simple accompaniment suit the song so well. You definitely stayed groovy on that one!!

  20. The only version, ( not knowing at the time until years later that it is an oldie standard classic ) was by Cass Elliot ( Yes, I prefer to call her by Cass and not ” Mama Cass ” ) She did have a song specifically written for her in regards to that) respect as to how she hated being referred to that …
Anyways, back to topic …. Hers was the only version I’d ever heard up until Mona & Lisa did their rake… Niw I Equally Enjoy both versions , but I will say that MLT’s version…it truly channels their ” Old Kindred SpiritSouls ” and sounds just as Timeless …. Kudos, on a Stellar Effort Done … Love It…. #MLTBUZZLUVGROOVIFIED Bonafideness– 💜🤘🏻👏

  21. Your harmonies are so heartwarming, it leaves me dreaming of you! From the tender guitar sounds to your beautiful singing, it’s all so breathtaking and beautiful, your music gently caresses the heart and soul so wonderfully. Love your version.  ❤✨🎶

While I’ve heard this beautiful song over the years, I wasn’t aware who sang it, but now I have a go to version, one I love. Never sounded so good!
