As you are reading this, we are adventuring through Iceland celebrating our 30th birthday!
We haven’t been on a proper holiday in many years, so we decided to go big for our birthday and cross something off our bucket list that we’ve dreamed about since we were kids. Of course, we’re bringing our cameras and will try to capture as much of it as we can for a future (music) video!
But more importantly today, the 16th of June, we are not only celebrating our 30th – it’s also Father’s Day (in the UK, US, and a few other places)!
So we are sharing a special video that we filmed with Papa Rudi! The song is part of our most recent album, The Duo Sessions II!
“Teach Your Children” seemed like the perfect song to play together, especially for today’s occasion. There is no person more influential to us, and we have learned so much from him and continue to do so every day. We really couldn’t wish for a better father, and if there’s one thing he has done for us, it’s to instill the bravery to dream and to go for it. He’s our biggest hero ♥
We used to play this song as just the two of us many, many years ago when we were teenagers, but we don’t think we ever grasped its full meaning until many years later. It’s one of those songs that hit different once you grow up!
A poignant masterpiece by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, and to be able to do the 3-part harmonies together with Dad means so much to us.

Absolutely gorgeous 3-part harmonies. This version appeals to me more than the original…but that’s beause I’m addicted to your voices I guess. And it reminds me of the very early recordings you did with your mum and dad, sixteen years or so ago. Great!

Beyond the special acknowledgement of Father’s Day, my hope for you is an incredible birthday holiday trip. Wonderful version of this classic song. And most appropriate for your dual birthday and Father’s Day today. If I’m hearing correctly, Papa Rudi sounds a lot like George Harrison, English accent and all, which is a pretty interesting sound for an Austrian to have.
“Happy Birthday” ladies! I just can’t believe you girls are 30 today. I still feel like you should be 18 or at least around there. I just love the song you did with your dad. Rudi is a very lucky man to have 2 girls like you two. It is so special and so many dads and daughters just don’t get to enjoy each other like you do. Tell Rudi “Hi” for me. I wish I had 1/2 the knowledge he does about recording. Bring back many good pictures from Iceland.

What a double celebration today. Happy Fathers Day Papa Rudi, and Happy Birthday Mona and Lisa. The release of Teach Your Children Well featuring Papa Rudi on this double celebration day for the Wagner’s seem like the universe aligned, and was meant to be.
I can feel so much love and admiration from Mona and Lisa as they sing with Papa Rudi, the sweet heartfelt emotions are so so real. Such a heartfelt, sweet, stellar performance. When something is so beautiful it makes you want to cry in appreciation of the beauty, and that’s how I feel watching and listening to this. Love Papa Rudi’s glance from side to side in the end and Mona and Lisa’s smiles.

Great time to go the 17th June is Independence Day lots going on.this day is huge for Iceland.and of course summer solstice when the sun never sets. If you struggle to sleep in daylight take an eye mask.
