About the Album

CHRISTMAS is an album of holiday and winter-themed songs. It includes the original MLT Christmas song “All I Want Christmas To Be” as well as interpretations of some of their favorite holiday songs ranging from John Lennon’s “Happy Xmas (War Is Over)” to some (translated) traditional German ballads they grew up with.

It has become somewhat of a tradition for the MonaLisa Twins to release a Christmas song for their fans every year. For the holidays season of 2019 they decided to take it a step further and release this full-length album, simply titled CHRISTMAS.

This is a FANTASTIC Christmas cd! The voices are amazing I already had ordered one for myself and just ordered four more for gifts. I will be ordering more before Christmas.

  2. Chris Weber (verified owner)

Record companies used to make all artists do a Christmas album, but you’ve done a wonderful one on your own. You take Christmas seriously, as my family always has.

This is a wonderful collection and I really love the original All I Want Christmas To Be, which is such a great song. You most have grown up with most of these, Snow Falls Softly at Night and Silent Night in particular. And the best version of Little Drummer Boy I’ve ever heard. A great addition to my set of Christmas music. Thanks.

  3. Tim Arnold (verified owner)

This is a very nice Christmas CD with some very beautiful versions of some classic Christmas songs and the Twins very own classic “All I Want Christmas To Be”. Even the grinchiest of Grinches will love it. Another favorite of mine is “Santa Baby”. Who knew a Christmas song about Rickenbackers and Gretsch’s could be so sultry and sexy. The Twins put their unique talents and style into every one of these songs to deliver a Christmas gift you will treasure forever.

  4. don clark (verified owner)

A true delight to listen to. Wonderful interpretations of the classics and outstanding song writing craft on their originals.

  5. Katie (verified owner)

What a Christmas Album!! One I shall be playing throughout the year.
    Excellent!!
    Thank you

  6. Fiona (verified owner)

I’m so glad I got the Mona Lisa Twins Christmas album- it is super. Particularly I loved the first track ( written by the Twins) All I Want Christmas To Be. Beautiful tune and great lyrics. I’m still singing it well into January. I am so impressed by the harmonies and lovely voices. I don’t think I’ll be waiting till next Christmas to play this again. Well done. 😊

  7. Graham (verified owner)

Absolutely the soundtrack for our Christmas this year! Played over and over as a welcome change from the usual Christmas songs played every year. Refreshing and different, with beautiful harmonies, clear diction, and quality musicianship. I’ll buy more, and will have to see when we can catch MLT live somewhere/sometime. Only discovered the twins in December 2022, but will keep up to date from now on.

  8. John Holliday (verified owner)

I love the Christmas Album and the fresh touches and treatment of favourite songs. We played it all over the Christmas period and a number of our friends asked who the MLT’s are.
I also bought the WHY CD which I really enjoy playing in the car. (I play along on guitar too when at home). I was amused by the title Make Show…which I believe the audience used to shout (Machen Chau?) at The Beatles in Hamburg back in the day.

Fab work ladies – I absolutely love your own stuff and (obviously) the Beatles numbers too.

I’m following your music and activities and would love to see you play at a live gig sometime.

    I am spreading the word.

  9. Rupert (verified owner)

We rented a country cottage for extended family and I played this in the living room with wood burner after we had eaten. My 92yr old ex big band singing Uncle is very particular about his music. We all chilled out to the harmonies and expertly captured instruments and he fell asleep to it half way through. That is a great compliment! We had a new baby which made it special, but your album also graced our day with sparkles. I have never bought a Christmas album before because many are commercial tat. This is sincere quality music, thank you Mona and Lisa for joining us xx

  10. Robert Larsen (verified owner)

I love my Christmas Album – listened to it nearly every day while working on my computer. I really like these ladies – their musicianship is top rate – and there is something very wonderful about their friendly and fun energy. I was very touched when I had left a positive comment on one of their Facebook posts and they actually replied to thank me. I’m a fan!

  11. Pat Barratt (verified owner)

I loved this collection of Christmas music. Perfect thank you

  12. Tom Watson (verified owner)

I love this Christmas album! Best ever in my opinion.

  13. Frank Lang (verified owner)

You two are like Fairies dancing in the tree! The Best!

  14. Thomas Drexler (verified owner)

This is an excellent Christmas album. I believe this is the first time covers of McCartney’s “Wonderful Christmastime” and Lennon’s “Happy Xmas” appear together on CD. The cover of “Peace On Earth/Little Drummer Boy”, originally done by Bowie and Bing Crosby for a TV show, is another gem. My personal favorite is “Walking In The Air” What a catchy tune. Congrats to all involved for putting out a quality product of your own and circumventing the big recording companies. Well done everyone. I will be purchasing more of your catalog.

  15. Frank Lang (verified owner)

I just found out about the Monalisa Twins on my phone. THE VERY BEST!. Got your Christmas CD and can’t stop playing it. It’s the most fun refreshing Christmas music I’ve heard in years! ” Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas ” is the most upbeat version of a somber song and your video is so much fun to watch. Nice take on Santa Baby! What does , one more thing, some string, but not for guitar mean!?? Don’t ever change. Stay Groovy!

  16. Nick Anderson (verified owner)

A great Christmas Album. I love Walking in the Air and Santa Baby versions.
    They’ll go down in history!

  17. Karl Hardiman (verified owner)

Love the Christmas album especially your own Christmas song and War is over and dare I say it, I personally believe it’s better than John Lennon’s version a Christmas song that you could actually get away with playing it in the summer, what a cracking cover.

  18. Tom (verified owner)

I listen to this on my way into and home from work every day of the season,All I Want for Christmasn, has become my favorite christmas song(and I absolutely love the video).Have bought and given copies as gifts.

  19. Mitchell Nix (verified owner)

This is a lovely album. I’d been streaming it for some time so decided to add the CD to my collection. The harmonies as always are fantastic. The highlight has to be the original song “all I want Christmas to be” . It’s now one of my all time festive favourites.

  20. Andrew (verified owner)

Really enjoyed the album, thoroughly entertaining, lovely voices singing together. Just what I needed for Christmas. On top of that great value as I bought it as a ‘bundle’ with the Why album, loved that as well.

  21. David Gagnon (verified owner)

MLT’s ‘Christmas’ album presents many refreshing versions of old favourites. An MLT original, ‘All I Want Christmas to Be’ is a heartfelt and sweetly nostalgic song in which gracefully waltzing vocal harmonies blend with lovely, delicate piano accompaniment. The first verse of a beloved Christmas song provides an unexpected and pleasing treat for listeners – the original version – this is ‘Snow Falls Softly at Night’. ‘Walking in the Air’ is a stand-out track, receiving its exciting energy and momentum from economical and effective use of percussion and rhythm guitar. The sultry ‘Santa Baby’ is appropriately re-themed to satisfy the respective passions of the Twins. Throughout the album you will find MLT’s flawless guitar-playing, lovely vocal harmonies, imaginative arrangements, and impeccable mixing.

My CD orders have been filled quickly and efficiently with typical MLT attention to detail. An MLT Club membership provides access to much more high quality music and a number of exclusive features. For example: You can see the ‘behind the scenes’ creative magic used to make MLT’s expensive-looking music videos. ‘What’s on the Table’ provides fun, fact-filled, crisply-edited explorations of classic vinyl from the Beatles and many other artists of that era.

  22. Nick Anderson (verified owner)

Just got my copy of Christmas today! Love it!

  23. Michael Chiappini (verified owner)

Received my Christmas Album CD yesterday, very pleased with it. Nothing more than I expected from these talented musicians.

  24. Tom McGronan (verified owner)

This has become my Favorite Christmas album(hope there is another one in the future). This copy was bought for a friend as a gift.

  25. Michael Mayeau (verified owner)

I love you gals music, especially your music videos.

  26. Roy Christiansen (verified owner)

Another reason to look forward to Christmas

  27. Simon Wallis (verified owner)

I don’t buy Christmas Albums, but oops, now I do. This is joyous and made me smile. Thank you Twins.

  28. Doug M (verified owner)

I bought this album even though I knew there were 2 songs on it that are not my favorite Christmas songs (War is Over and Walking in the Air). I love the other nine songs. They start off with a really nice original song and go right into a version of Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas that I think should be played on the radio every year. I have uploaded many of their albums into iTunes upon digital purchase and then I make playlists that I listen to on my phone all the time, even in the shower with a bluetooth speaker. They make happy music, and I definitely recommend their albums.

  29. Bob Wilde (verified owner)

Loved the arrangements on this album. Really enjoyed this. Thankyou ladies.

  30. Chris (verified owner)

Best Christmas CD ever. Great originals, and some of the best covers I have heard. Your version of Happy Christmas (War is over) is outstanding. Never cared much for the original, but ya’ll’s cover is fabulous. Will listen to it all year round. Thanks.

  31. Steve (verified owner)

Over the years I’ve become bored with christmas songs, same old same old. With this album you’ve put your own stamp on some great classics.
I appreciate what you do as I was involved with an unsigned independent band about 10 years ago.

  32. Stephen (verified owner)

Lovely album. So refreshing. I loved the drummer boy, but the very first nostalgic track was my favourite.

  33. chang yeong choi (verified owner)

Finally I got the album CD.
There is a different feeling from listening to MP3.
I really love this CD and I am looking forward to the upcoming Christmas.

  34. Barry jones (verified owner)

I was an original Beatles fan back in the 60’s and appreciate your cover numbers of them. Having heard some on Facebook prompted me to buy your Christmas Album. I was not disappointed. I loved your first original track and all the covers were brilliant.

  35. Hermann Fleischhauer (verified owner)

I have become big in the 60s – with “Friday on my mind” (even played in 1966 with the student band) and I love the music, like Mona and Lisa, who interpret this great, exciting and beautifully. They impress with the best musical work, in addition to their excellent singing also through a clean, appealing instrumentalization, like Lisas Leadguitar. My collection is now completed by your CDs. Clear recommendation.

  36. Craig (verified owner)

I love what you do. Consider me a fan. I will continue to purchase whatever music MLT makes available, covers, Christmas or original music I enjoy it all. If you ever make it to the USA I would travel to see your concert. I have to mention that your music videos are nothing short of brilliant and they bring joy in my life so Keep up the great work!

  37. Robio Bartlett (verified owner)

Nothing like the joy and bliss evoked by the Mona Lisa Twins harmonies! Became a fan when a friend turned me on to their KILLER version of ‘This Boy’ and haven’t looked back. Their latest release is an instant classic. You wouldn’t think there were any fresh takes left for the old standby Christmas tunes, but, once again, Mona and Lisa deliver an album that will be played year after year, in the same manner as Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole and John Lennon. When are you ladies coming to tour America? We need you!

  38. Larry Mcphail (verified owner)

Outstanding work. I particularly liked ” AllI want Christmas To Be”. It’s my “Only” Christmas Music Album!

  39. Pierre Girard (verified owner)

I bought this album on the strength of the Twins ability to insuflate new life into old numbers. I am a particularly old stinger when it comes to this kind of seasonal music but I loved the songs and the way they were interpreted even in the case of ‘the little drummer boy’ when there was not a lot of room for manoeuvring (musically-speaking). Even my daughter who grew up on a diet of dance-trance music loved it so much she instructed Alexa to pimp up her playing list with MonaLisa Tunes. I will watch and listen to the output of the Twins in the Future.

  40. Bill Burch (verified owner)

I really enjoy this album. It’s so fresh and so honest by two young woman who truly love the Christmas Season. Their memories of past Holidays puts the joy of Christmas in the wondering eyes of a child, in all eleven songs. To be able to write and sing these new and classic songs with their unique, beautiful style reminds me how lucky I am, like Mona and Lisa, to have such a loving family. In other words this album is “All I want Christmas to be” a Christmas classic in our house.

  41. Gareth Evans (verified owner)

Really love this cd ,definitly brightened up my christmas .

  42. David D Tinnon (verified owner)

I enjoy your arrangements of the oldies and your own pieces. Keep going, ladies!

  43. Mark Smith (verified owner)

Yet another great CD I think I will be playing it all year and not just Christmas keep up the good work

  44. John Howell (verified owner)

Superb harmonies, you’re so talented and the guitar playing sounds unique. Keep on playing ????

  45. Robert Anscombe (verified owner)

    Love your all music

  46. Chris Day (verified owner)

A new follower of the twins. Saw this and played a few samples. Like what I heard so bought it.
Will now be my first go to Christmas Album each year.

  47. William Miller (verified owner)

One of the best Christmas albums I’ve heard in a while smiled the whole easy through Santa baby is so funny and the other songs espically little drummer boy are great love your stuff

  48. Stan Creamer (verified owner)

Thanks so much for your music. It’s so nice to the refreshing sounds. Christmas songs are awesome! My you and your family have a safe holiday season. The world will get through this.

  49. Carl Vinson

Bought the Christmas/Orange combo and love both. My granddaughters insist we play Christmas album everything in the car and I love to here them sing along.

Orange is a huge surprise with the twins creating instead of “just” covering classics. True test of their talent. Great mix of styles, top notch musicianship, voices and production.

  50. Jim Cummings (verified owner)

Loved the Christmas album I bought recently. Love your voices and how they sound together. Arrangements are really good and I love that first track. Brilliant.

  51. Teri Ontkean (verified owner)

It’s not the season for Christmas music yet, so I’ve only listened to my new CD once. I’m so glad I ordered it this year. I was deterred by the shipping cost to Canada but I treated myself! Drummer Boy is my favourite so far….

  52. Johnnypee Parker (verified owner)

Two autographed copies arrived, along with a guitar strap and sticker set. Shipping was much faster than last time. The Guitar strap is high quality, and looks great on either of my guitars. Apparently, I am not to old to put stickers on my guitar, cause now I have the koolest pick guard on the block.

The autographed CD’s are unique, so now I have to chose one to keep and one for gift. Ugh, which one? They both look awesome!

  53. Jeff DeGarmo (verified owner)

    Great

  54. Joseph Manzi (verified owner)

I received the Christmas CD about a month ago. It was pretty fast service from England to the States.
I’ve only listen to it 3 times so far. There are 11 songs on this Great Christmas CD. A Great mixture of
classic Christmas Songs and an original MLT song. I like that you did renditions of German and Austrian songs. I will be playing this a lot once the Holidays are here. You really did a nice job on this cd. Right now after only three listening I would have to say my three favorites are Winter Wonderland, It’s the most Wonderful Time of the Year and Happy Xmas ( War is Over ). I highly recommend if you like Christmas music you need to get this CD. Great Job Ladies. Stay Groovy and Peace & Love.

  55. Kenneth W. Wenninger (verified owner)

I have a few CDs that come out every Christmas. Now I have a new favorite.

The Twins put their unique flavor into Christmas classics and create a brand new song.

At the risk of sounding blasphemous, I cannot listen to Paul’s “Wonderful Christmastime.” I do like what Mona and Lisa did with this one though. I can certainly listen to their version—better than the original.

“Walking in the Air” is a high point for me. The harmonies, the snare drum, the guitar, the rhythm…It is fantastic.

I hope the girls got their Gibson…

The MonaLisa Twins have produced a Christmas album that is an endearing, eclectic and what should be an enduring festival favourite. Seemlessly moving across genres MonaLisa’s CHRISTMAS feels like the Neapolitan ice cream you enjoyed as a child; multi flavours yet a tasty whole.
The album begins on a high with the original ‘All I Want Christmas to Be.’ This is a beautiful piece with a gorgeous melodic chorus and delightful lyrics. Using personal anecdotes has been cleverly used before on their original albums and here is another example. It makes their material feel authentic and the listener feels like they are being sung to individually. The harmonies shine and the layering of the melody combine to make one of their most delightful songs. It deserves to become a Christmas standard. ‘Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas’ is transformed into an enticing sixties vibe groove. Then followed by Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy yet again the harmonies just meld and flow with such sweetness and delicacy. Elsewhere such as with their take of McCartney’s ‘Wonderful Christmas Time’ the outcome is arguably better than the original. On this and others such as ‘Santa Baby’ the vocal delivery is simple, direct and yet still emotive. The worded interplay between Lisa and Mona on Santa Baby is fun and does not feel forced at all. With Lennon’s ‘And So This is Christmas’ the song is reworked into a New Orleans style ‘fun fest’. This is definitely one of the albums many high points with exuberant background party vocals and clever instrumentation. Whilst not wanting to diminish the original it is very refreshing to hear a song so much associated with school choir performances be performed so uniquely without diminishing the message of the song. The simple approach towards the evergreen classic ‘Silent Night’ is touching. Commencing with some delicate guitar the vocals follow to finish both the song and album with sincerity and beauty. CHRISTMAS is a great success by this wonderful sister duo – a festive release that is very highly recommended.

I truly think your Christmas Album is the simply the best I have heard in decades! “All That I Want Christmas To Be” and the beautiful video brought me back to some special memories such as a beautiful fire in the fireplace and a Christmas tree with my favorite Christmas tree decoration-bubble lights. Yes, as the song suggests, those are the memories for keeps. Thank you.

Your arrangement of “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” was such a delightful upbeat rock improvement over any traditional arrangements I have heard. Thank you.

Your video and arrangement of “Wonderful Christmastime” was such fun to watch the Twins having fun and being a bit “sassy” a good thing. The scene in a Christmas store brought wonderful memories for me as I have never met a Christmas store that I did not spend an hour or two in much to my delight. Thank you.

The beginning of “Snow Falls Softly At Night” took me back to my wonderful German Grandmother who did not speak English until she was 7. Thank you.

I thought your custom version and arrangement of “Santa Baby” was absolutely brilliant and delightfully entertaining. Thank you.

This entire album was incredibly entertaining and I stand by my feeling is that it is the “Best Christmas Album in Decades.” Anytime an album can transport us to a wonderful place in time and bring back not one but several “Memories For Keeps” as well as a time when “It Felt Like the World Was So Right” from “All I Want Christmas to Be” is the essence of superb songwriting, brilliant performance and excellent arrangements.

Many thanks again for this simply wonderful Christmas Album and the beautiful videos. In short, thanks for the memories.

With Love, Blessings and hugs all around for such a treasure!

Dear Mona and Lisa, since I discover you and your music on YouTube in 2018 with a great rendition of “Drive My Car” from the Beatles, I have either purchased or been given all your albums. I keep listening to them because I like the musical quality of your recordings, but also because you generate so much joy, cheer and happiness in times that really need them. My wife and I love Christmas and Christmas music, and we have literally tens of albums that we keep playing during the Christmas season. So, I decided to add your Christmas album to our collection and I certainly do not regret it. The choice of songs and your rendition of them make it a wonderful addition to our collection. Your music is refreshing. And in my personal opinion, your own composition, “All I Want Christmas To Be” is a gem, words and music. More than once, I find myself singing it in my head. Thank you so much for being who you are, and for giving us real upbeat music (or shall I say groovy?). Keep on playing!

  59. Thomas Hugh (verified owner)

I purchased this CD and it shipped to California, USA (November 2019). It was well worth the cost. This is a heartwarming collection (small) of Christmas songs. All are very well performed. I enjoyed the inclusion of ‘Walking In The Air’. The original song ‘All I Want Christmas To Be’ was very nostalgic for me. The video is warming to my heart. I hear this one as a classic.
I love these girls since I discovered them on YouTube. I watch a video or two every evening. I was a teenager in the 1960’s and recall the original versions of the sixties songs they perform. I was in a rock band then. I would like to hang around the girls at a performance. If I was invited to play along, it would take me some time to rehearse because I gave it up so many years ago. I say give your support to the MonaLisa Twins to keep them performing and creating magic. Also, watch the YouTube videos to keep them close to you. It has been my pleasure to hear their music.

This is what I basically posted on I-Tunes. Excellent Christmas album. The vocals and arrangements make these tunes perfect for the season. The only exception, and I really love this song, is Walking on Air. Great song but not a Christmas one. Still I would highly recommend this CD. All I Want For Christmas is a great original tune and the covers are spot on. (please note attached is my first selfie)

  61. Bobby Gibbons (verified owner)

Loved the music, made my Christmas more joyous. Enjoyed the half Austrian. Y’all would sound good in any language. Love yer videos. Thanks for the fun and enjoyment you create!!!

I am, by and large, not much for Christmas music. I mean, give me Noel Sing We Clear in their prime doing traditional English seasonal songs and I’m a happy man; throw in John Kirkpatrick’s “Chariots” and I’m even happier. But most of what you hear from about three days before Halloween to the weekend after New Year’s is either Victorian era carols that are shopworn by repetition, or old recordings of twentieth century holiday songs that are shopworn by repetition, or shlocky new songs or remakes of old songs, in arrangements usually either overwrought or stylistically questionable or both, that are, within a week after release, shopworn by repetition. Very rare is the occasion when a seasonal song comes up on a mall PA and I say, “Oh, cool, this is a great one!” Very rare.

But the MonaLisa Twins (henceforth MLT) are one of my favorite musical discoveries of 2019, and when they announced their new album of holiday songs, I couldn’t refuse. I got the CD as soon as it was released — actually I think it arrived in the mail the day before the official November 1 release date. By then I’d already downloaded the audio files. But I didn’t listen right away. There are rules in this household, and one rule is, no Christmas songs until after Thanksgiving.

But the embargo’s over, yay. And I can tell you this collection’s a good one.

There’s just one original song, the lead-off “All I Want Christmas To Be”, and if I can’t pronounce it one of the finest songs I’ve heard lately, no matter: For modern Christmas songs, that would be a high bar indeed. This one’s heartfelt, sincere, not overproduced, not inflated with self-importance. A straightforward song with a catchy chorus. Far more famous songwriters have stumbled badly writing holiday songs. MLT have pulled off a modest but genuine success.

The rest are some traditional, some “classic” twentieth century songs, almost all very familiar but for the most part made pleasantly interesting again with MLT’s new interpretations. No one’s contorting a melodic line with self-conscious ornamentation and variation for its own sake; no one’s soaking you in canned strings and canned echoing reverb; no one’s reaching for Powerful And Dramatic vocal delivery; no one’s taking any of this a bit too seriously, or not seriously enough.

I think of “Peace On Earth / Little Drummer Boy” as being the sort of song that one could almost count on having the above afflictions imposed upon. And honestly, perhaps it comes close, but nothing egregious. Mona has a simple and understated snare drum part running through it all and it fits perfectly.

“Wonderful Christmastime”, “Winter Wonderland”, and “It’s the Most Wonderful Time Of the Year” (possibly an excessive amount of wonder for one album) are pretty straightforward versions of familiar songs, done well without missteps.

Beatles fans that MLT are, the presence of the first of those is no surprise, and the same is true of Lennon’s “Happy Xmas (War Is Over)”. I’m tempted to call MLT’s rendition revelatory. Until now it’s been my contention that this song illustrates how even a songwriting genius can and will turn out the occasional stinker, and that in fact Lennon here created one of the worst Christmas songs of all time. I’m now considering it possible he only created one of the worst Christmas song arrangements of all time. MLT discard his bland, excruciatingly sincere approach in favor of a raucous calypso treatment. It’s a party of a song that actually sounds as if it’s happy that war is over (if you want it). The cloyingly banal rhymes are still there in the lyrics, but you’re having too good a time with the music to examine them too closely.

There’s a bit of similarity in their version of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”. Originally recorded as a bittersweet, slow piece, they’ve sped it up and goosed it up, making what was meloncholy, well, merry. It works, I think, because the lyrics can be looked at from both sides equally well.

The traditional songs are “Snow Falls Softly At Night” (or “Leise Rieselt Der Schnee”, as the German speaking world calls it, and Austrian-born MLT start it off with the German lyrics) and the closing “Silent Night”, both done simply and effectively.

You’ll probably never hear any of these performances on a mall PA, and that’s fine with me; I wouldn’t want them becoming shopworn with repetition. I’ll hear them in coming years in my home and in my car, with each listening canceling out the trauma of yet another exposure to “Last Christmas”. I’ll still gripe about Christmas music, but I’ll gratefully grant MLT an exception.

I have been a fan since the beginning and I just purchased the Christmas bundle as a gift to myself. Let’s understand that these girls channel the sixties and the Merseybeat like no other act. Fab Four style harmonies, wonderful musicianship and a knack for uniqueness amidst all the homage. As a fan of the sixties and sharing their love for the music especially The Beatles, it was a no brainer that I would buy their newest Beatles inspired recordings and covers but it’s the Christmas album that is really special. It is filled with traditional and pop classics and contem contemporary originals. It is fresh, fun, heartfelt and most importantly totally original. Worth every penny and a superb holiday gift to their fans. I’d you’re a fan check it out.

    Hello Mona and Lisa,
    your Christmas Album is wonderful.
The song I like most is “It’s the most Wonderful time of the year”.
“Walking in the air” is a song I didn’t know before, but your version is great. Is it a Christmas Song? Anyway, I can put it on even when silent night is over.
Nice to hear a few words in German (Leise rieselt…).
Merry Christmas to you und ganz liebe Grüße aus Germany.

despite is my name on the command, I had done this for a very old man who knew nothing from modern tools like internet. But he received the CD and he is very happy, and he said that the version of the christmas song of John Lennon is by far better in this version on the CD.

I am always looking for a new twist on Christmas music (the classics are great but get a bit bored!) and I definitely found it in this collection. Thank you ladies for a fun, fresh take on Christmas!!

There are a LOT of Christmas albums out there… and I should know – I own most of them. 🙂 Just kidding. I only own around a hundred or so – which is a small drop in the bucket of what is out there; but I only keep the ones I actually like. There are good Christmas albums. There are great Christmas albums. A very select few may be considered classic Christmas albums. (there are also the not-so-good, mediocre and downright horrid Christmas albums – and yes, I’m talking about YOU, Jingle Cats.) I do not consider myself to be any kind of expert on the subject, but I DO feel qualified to know the difference; and THIS one ranks among the best of the best.

What this record has in common with all the great ones is a proper balance of the old and the new, traditional and contemporary, religious and secular. What elevates it to potential classic status is the addition of an original tune and the fact of the artist putting their unique (and, in my opinion, delightful) stamp on EVERY song. It doesn’t matter how many times you may have heard some of these songs before…. you have NEVER heard them like THIS before. That fact is what makes this a Christmas album worth owning – even if you already own a hundred others. 🙂

I won’t bore anyone here with a track by track breakdown – I am sure that others have already done so, and better than I could. I would just like to say my personal favorites (on an album filled with stand out tracks) are “All I Want Christmas to Be” (if for no other reason than it being brand new and delightful) “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” (BEST version of the song, EVER) and “Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy” (simple breathtaking rendition. Is it better than the original? That’s not for me to say, and I couldn’t care less either way… It reminds me of something that Brian Wilson might have done – and that is reason enough to love it!)

I said above that this album is a ‘potential’ classic. I say ‘potential’ because, realistically, it won’t be, unless it is heard by enough people – which it certainly deserved to be. As far as I am concerned personally, it IS a classic. In my mental list of personal favorites, I am placing it alongside “A Christmas Gift for you From Phil Spector” and “Elvis’ Christmas Album”.

I found you on YouTube playing Beatles music and thought you were great at your interpretation of the music, I then saw your video for “All I Want Christmas To Be” on Facebook and though itt is a great original Christmas song, so I followed the link to your website and bought the album. I love the Christmas album. I saw a review where someone said the album had to much “twang” for their taste, I think it has just the right amount of twang to keep the music from sounding like every other band out there. I then looked at your Orange album and think your original music is pretty darn good too, I intend to purchase the vinyl record after the holidays settle down. Please keep making great music and as you say to your fans, “Stay Groovy”!!

I enjoyed your album very much, will be buying more of your Cover albums. It would be a nice touch if you could record more songs in German. After all, I heard all of these songs in my language, English. But I remember when I heard 99 Luft Balloons in I think in German, and I really liked it. Just a though. Thanks, One of your older fans.

I usually don’t like Little Drummer Boy but this way I do. Your own song All I Want Christmas to Be is beautiful. Thank you for bringing joy and groovyness to our Christmas Season!!

I love this CD! It makes me do something, what I’ve never done before: I’ll buy a Christmas-Tree!
And, by the way: it is a wonderful present for friends, neighbours and business-partrners.

This may be my favorite Christmas Album ever! The lyrics in “All I want Christmas to be” brought up childhood memories and helped set this “family around the fireplace” mood for the rest of the songs. I though, would have probably substituted something else for John Lennon’s “War is Over”. It’s still a good song, but it temporarily broke the mood until “Silent Night” brought me back.
Merry Christmas to you and your family and here’s hoping that Santa bought your CD,got your Christmas list, and is extra generous this year.

It was a joy to hear your Christmas album. The song you wrote should become a classic. And your covers of holiday songs — some well known, others not (at least to me) — were tastefully and imaginatively performed.

Myself and my wife Monica were so delighted to receive the Mona Lisa Christmas Album, that we decided it would be a great idea to spend the evening listening to it, and we were certainly not disappointed. The music, just like previous MLT albums, was so sublime, and the harmonies were so wonderful that they simply took our breath away, and we had the most relaxed and amazing evening ever, Old songs or new, it really didn’t matter, the album is exquisite.

  82. Thomas Slater (verified owner)

I love the album, it’s the best Christmas album I have and I’ve got a few. I also love all your albums, and Orange is a classic. Have a wonderful and a Happy New Year. And please release all your Videos.
Lots of Love to You All.

I didn’t want to be in a pre- Christmas funk so I was extremely happy to see MLT come out with a Christmas album as I wanted something unique and to my liking of good music. They lead with an original composition which is thoughtful and personal but stays away from being maudlin. How about you ? What do you “want Christmas to be”? Of course there are two “Beatle” songs.
I like both treatments because they are fresh and sound fresh especially “War is Over.”I honestly never liked Macca’s “Wonderful Christmastime” but I REALLY like MLT’s version.
It was lovely to hear the Twins sing “Snow Falls softly” in their native language . I was hoping for at least one verse of Stille Nacht (Silent Night) in German as we Auslanders would sing these two songs in our German class. I find it is a beautiful language when sung.
The soulful, jazzy guitar intro that precedes Silent Night is so sweet.
MLT perform a unique and humorous version of “Santa Baby” citing their starry eyed wishes for musical instruments. (I’d like a Gretsch too BTW.)
In any case, I’m driving half way to work and its time to replay the album one more time…maybe hit repeat on Silent Night a few times and try not to tear up. That’s just me for there are more smiles than tears for this festive tribute to Christmas. Like the kid said, “God bless us all everyone!”

I have to say first that I don´t particularly like Christmas albums. I don´t see very much sense to buy an album that is relevant to play a month or so in the year. I owned before this only two Christmas albums, both by Finnish singer Tarja Turunen (ex-Nightwish) but MonaLisa Twins´Christmas album was a must. The thought to hear these lovely voices sing Christmas songs was just too tempting. And the album is perfect ten ! The one original song “All I Want Christmas To Be” is the best new Christmas song for years and the more familiar songs that follows are all performed very well. I also liked the new arrangements in the songs like “Walking In The Air” and “Happy Xmas (War Is Over)”. The very often heard songs have got now new twist and they sound very fresh. I have listened album only once now because Christmas is over the month ahead but after few weeks it will probably stay permanently in my CD player. Happy Christmas Mona & Lisa !

Beautiful album and classic remakes of classic songs. I love their original new song “All I Want For Christmas”. Their German/English version of “The Snow Falls Softly at Night” might be my new favorite Christmas song. It may be known in Germany and Europe, but it was new to me and wonderful. I just listened to “Santa Baby” a couple days ago and love their humor in adapting the words to the guitars and wonderful world of music they share with us. There is a version of Santa Baby that I quite like and I was reluctantly thinking “How can they top that?”.

I think I am done thinking that way. They hit every song they cover and every new song they write over the top. Kind if the Lou Gehrig and Babe Ruth of rock and roll. Or since they are Austrian, maybe more like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Franco Columbu were to bodybuilding. World champions.

I really admire the classy championship way Mona, Lisa and their family produce wonderful songs and albums. Their musical and vocal skills are magnificent or as many say “Magical”. Everything they do is first class and it’s clear to me that is who they are through and through. Employees, customers and a whole lot of strangers are getting some MLT Christmas Magic from us this year.

Great job Mona, Lisa and the Wagner family!

The eagerly anticipation that was bestowed upon us all when MLT announced of this forthcoming album…. The Christmas Spirit amped full gear…. Even more thrilling, once Pre-ordered, the awaiting of Canada Post to deliver but in meantime, the download link that came with pre-order helped quench the anxiousness of when one could have actual CD in hand …

    Thoroughly Above and Beyond Impressed…
What we have here is a Stellar, Exquisitely Enchanting Christmas Album that has resurrected the true meaning of Christmas Spirit with only the Groovy MLTBuzzWorthy Spin that Team MLT perfected and injected into this.

We have 11 songs, some are familiar, one completely brand spanking original and destined to become the new standard classic in modern times :
    #1: ALL I WANT CHRISTMAS TO BE~
A beautiful enchanting, Whimsical essence of a traditional song yet with a flair of modern equally intertwined to which one can embrace its charm and timeless appeal, it’s my Fave on the album.

#2~ PEACE ON EARTH/LITTLE DRUMMER BOY:
Both Mona and Lisa have picked up quite beautifully where Bing Crosby and David Bowie left off in this arousing and eminating rendition… You’re entranced and in Awe when you listen… I’m sure both the spirits of Bing and David approve!

#3~ HAVE YOURSELF A MERRY LITTLE CHRISTMAS:
This offers up a retro-ish yet vibrant approach to this classic and the guitaring aspects with the ultimate vocal harmonization just works magic here, pure Bliss.

    #4~WINTER WONDERLAND:
How can you not help but sing along to this, c’mon now, the pure enthusiasm stemming from the gals singing, can make but of the most bleajest horrible winter storms melt and see sunshine in the midst of winter’s cold… Delightfully Teacup Worthy.

#5~ SNOW FALLS SOFTLY At NIGHT/

A most elegant intertwining of the German and English lyrics of this German/Austrian favorite classic and the richness of the vocals and simplistic instrumentation to this piece just compliments each other and offers pleasure to one’s musical ears.

6~IT’S THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME Of THE YEAR:
This renders classic in every aspect from the instrumentation, music arrangement, vocals, one can’t help but become uplifted while listening, it offers Smiles of Joy.

    #7~ A WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS TIME:

I believe they’ve done Sir Paul proud on their interpretation of this Christmas classic, and the uke flavorings throughout song gives it a funky freshness that makes it come to life even more so…. Happy face kudos.

    #8~ WALKING IN THE AIR:
Though I was not familiar with this song (Googled It Up To Find More Info on it), I enjoyed it from the get-go because the beautifully hauntingly vocals from Mona and Lisa on this song amplifies the essences that this song conjures with its lyrics and their instrumentation used on this song, compliments perfectly giving that Whimsical and Enchanting Christmas Magic Vibe, Spectacular memorizing to listen to.

    #9~ SANTA BABY:
Well, just when you think you have heard great renditions, this one comes along, top notch, truly of their own making, and alive with jazz like tones musically, lyrics genius , it just oozes that Groovy sophisticated oomph you expect from this song but definitely not unlike any others before now, a caliber of its own kind, Quirky cute but ear appreciative to boot, sing along Appeal zeal feel.

    #10~HAPPY XMAS(WAR IS OVER) :
You have John Lennon’s version…. It’s awesome, then along comes MLT, give them the opportunity to take the song and do something with it but still maintaining John’s essences… Damn, They have done so successfully with this Island/Latin fusion of musical flavours that sends out Postivity Groovy Christmas Spirit Vibes, Sunshine of Christmas Heart bursts out it’s creative Juices for all to celebrate with Festive Fab Fun… Let the Warmth of this Party Pleaser infiltrate and generate good times indeed!

    #11~ Silent NIGHT:
A Christmas Album is not one and complete without this sentimental yet traditional favorite we all know and appreciate, no matter how many times you hear it, how many verses sung of it, whatever language it is sing in, it resonates a PEACE and LOVE effect towards All…

In summary, I conclude that this is a highly reccomended Christmas Album that should be part of one’s music collection by whatever means of it, to me it re-establishes the Spirit and Meaning of Christmas in an inviting and Positively Fab Festive Fun Groovy Vibed Essence that needs to enjoyed and shared by and to all…
Giving it an Infininity And Beyond Thumbs Up, Kudos to Team MLT for a brilliant gift for all this Christmas Season of 2019, Thankyou from my heart.

The Christmas album is a seasonal treasure for uncountable Christmas times to come. The picture attached shows my copy of the Christmas album that is among my treasured autographed collection. This Christmas will be my 70th Christmas season. I have not only been hearing Christmas music for many decades I read and play music for my enjoyment at the piano/keyboards. MLT Christmas album is wonderful with interesting arrangements of classic Christmas. The highlight is the original MLT song “All I Want Christmas To Be”. This song captures Christmas by sharing what Christmas time has been experienced. It’s about joy, happy times remembered. Maybe one day there will be an entire Christmas original songs album from MLT. ?. For now the Christmas album is a keepsake of the Christmas season. I love the expression of delightful humor of the album cover picture. In closing, when is Christmas? Isn’t it really an everyday day expression that is 365/24/7? It’s the fun, joyful humor in love with giving, sharing the emotional exchanges we all have. This is what Mona & Lisa have created and are doing through music. MLT have captured groovy in music by keeping their artistic focus.

      Our New Favourite Christmas Album

Our lovely package arrived in Australia this week and we haven’t stopped playing them…The Mona Lisa Twins – Christmas album is our new favourite. I’m so happy that we found you in time to bring you into our home for this festive season, we will be sharing your beautiful Angelic harmonies with our family and friends as the festivities begin in the coming weeks. I especially love the haunting sounds of ‘Walking In The Air’…so beautiful. ‘Happy Christmas’ was a real surprise…usually I don’t particularly like this song because it always leaves me feeling sad and emotional, but you have brought new life to the truth and meaning of this song…celebration of peace, and setting it to a reggae beat helped to get it there, so thank you for that gift. Your original ‘All I Want Christmas To Be’, is a sheer delight and made me smile all the way through as I was imagining two little girls experiencing their magical Christmas…very heart warming and real. They are all truly wonderful tunes to be enjoyed, but I think my absolute favourite from this well put together album, is ‘Santa Baby’, again, not one of my usual likes but I love your creativity in this one and love how the instruments are added to build the song, so clever and I can’t wait to share this one with my brother in law Lloyd Clarke, who is also a song writer and guitar pickin’ , playin’, lovin’ guy…he’s going to absolutely love your rendition of ‘Santa Baby’.
God bless you both this Christmas and thank you for blessing all of us with your incredible gifts.

I’ve been hoping for some time now that the MLTs would put together a Christmas album with hopefully an original Christmas song that would become a standard. This year I got what I wanted and more. Love the music and the unique arrangements they did on some of the Christmas classics. When the MLTs put their special touch on a cover version you can pretty much expect a pleasant surprise and they delivered with this album. The reggae twist on War Is Over would put a smile on John Lennon’s face for sure and the Country style vision of “Walking in the Air” is a sure winner which I hope will get lots of radio play because it’s a winner. Especially with Mona’s lead vocals. Bought plenty of extra albums for stocking stuffers so the MonaLisa Twins Christmas will be enjoyed by others for years to come. Well done girls and thanks for the awesome effort you put into this album.

A wonderful edition to my Christmas CD collection. Each song has that special MLT touch. It’s evident in each song that Christmas has always been a special time for you. This is so evident in “All I Want Christmas To Be”. This song expresses Christmas spirit in such a special way. While all of the songs are performed with the MLT excellence that we’ve come to expect, “ALL I WANT CHRISTMAS TO BE” is my favorite. It’s like the quintessential Christmas song for how so many of us feel about this holiday. “Merry Christmas” to the MLT family.

Christmas is happiness and if there is one word to totally describe the two and you and what you contribute to the world it is happiness. This CD is already an instant Christmas classic in our house and will be played through all of our holiday endeavors. Each family has their own traditional Christmas music that brings back memories of happy times of growing up, becoming adults and celebrating each holiday season. Just when you think the box of those memories may be full, this CD has now created a new and especially strong one. Thank you for that! Merry Christmas!
    Ed 🙂

We had hints that the album would include some of the previously released Bowie, McCartney and traditional Christmas goodies, so satisfaction was guaranteed, but still I was floored by the MonaLisa Twins’ Christmas album.

The new tune, “All I want Christmas To Be”, with its descending bass lines, it’s lovely piano, perfect harmonies and beautiful melodies, conjured up whimsical feelings to take me to a wonderful Christmas dream of waltzing across the living room floor with the family piano playing warmhearted carols. It is an instant classic.

Then, Walking In The Air, came Johnny Cash, leaving me open mouthed, completely taken by surprise, I couldn’t believe my ears. They have taken this classic and made it fresh, with a spunky soul, and of course, those impeccable harmonies.

And that’s not all, Santa Baby has cheek, all the cheek to you need to lift those stale sable lyrics and put a smile on your face. The old insensitive luxuries of the original lyrics are gone and replaced with a musician’s dream, just the tools of the trade. Will make you want to go to your music store and ship out an order to them.

But wait there’s more! Happy Xmas has been restyled to get you out on the dance floor. Got salsa for that Lennon? Sure proof that whatever style the MonaLisa Twins embark on, they do it flawlessly. A true mark of greatness. Last but not least, is a soulful rendition of Silent Night. No rinse, just repeat.

An album that will no doubt impress.

If you’re of a certain age, you’ll know that most of the songs on “Christmas” have been recorded many, many times by many, many talented musicians over many, many years. Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Michael Buble, right up to Whitney Houston and Taylor Swift. But there are only a very few true gems of holiday music. The Charlie Brown Christmas soundtrack, of course. Diana Krall’s “Christmas Songs”. And now the MonaLisa Twins’ “Christmas”.
The familiar songs here have a sound that is best described as fresh. All are arranged and presented in a manner likely never heard before, many of them totally unlike the classic performances that are widely recognized. “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” is almost universally a slow, melodic ballad. It is so much improved with the upbeat tempo here; Christmas is a time to celebrate, and this track will fill a dance floor.
“Winter Wonderland” has an almost country music vibe to it; again, unusual and illustrative of the artistic range with which the MonaLisa Twins’ followers are fully aware. The samba “Happy Xmas (War Is Over) is a further example of this wide vision. There is one binding aspect to all the tracks and it is those two voices singing together, although that is something featured on every song they perform. And it’s almost redundant to mention the production value and musicianship; both are so good all the time they are as inherent to their work as water is to a rainstorm.
And then there is “All I Want Christmas To Be”, the original song that leads off the album. Being soaked to the socks, tongues stuck on ice, and snotty noses punctuated my childhood. That these young women can have so much in common with someone over twice their age is a miracle right out of the bag under the tree. The most striking element of this track, however, is not the nostalgia the lyrics present, but the wish that Christmas maintains the ability to allow us to feel that the world is alright, and perhaps incentivize us all to help that along. A beautiful notion in a beautiful song.
I don’t have any thumbs up or stars or likes or anything, just do yourself a favor and get a copy of “Christmas”. This advice is my Christmas gift to you.

  107. Dennis Grover (verified owner)

I was hoping for this album and got my wish! Love it!

Congratulations to you and everyone involved in making, recording and producing this really special Christmas CD – Its the best ever……….thank you Mona and Lisa

  109. Jung Roe (verified owner)

This Christmas album leaves me breathless! So many wonderful moments throughout the album.

Right off the bat the first track is a charming and jazzy elegance of “All I Want Christmas To Be” MLT original song that conveys the warm magical Christmas mood, remembering all the fond moments of Christmas times of the past. There are beautiful piano runs, and the singing is warm and glowing, carrying the beautiful melody. They’ve done a remarkable job with this song of transporting you into their Christmas spirit state of mind. It feels like chestnuts roasting next to a fireplace on a cold snowy winter night on Christmas eve. It makes you feel all that is special about Christmas. It’s a modern Christmas masterpiece.

Peace On Earth Little/Drummer Boy is three and a half minutes of sheer musical beauty and bliss by just Mona and Lisa’s spectacular vocals and harmonies. Literally it’s just their angelic voices on many tracks, Lisa’s highs, Mona’s lows, angelic Mona/Lisa choir background, and humming, all intermixing in a sublime symphony. Kudos to the remarkable studio sound production and track mixing (Brian Wilson and Paul McCartney would be proud). Lisa’s lead vocals shows the remarkable range of her voice, and just shine so beautifully and gracefully sending shivers of joy down the spine. The gentle drumming is the only instrument in the song that provide a graceful background beat. This song is a moment of artistic sheer beauty in the realm of Bach, Mozart and Beethoven.

Walking In The Air is a song written for an animated 1978 children’s film “The Snowman”, a Christmas story about a little boy and a Snowman. It’s an incredibly beautiful song covered by many classical artists. Mona and Lisa transformed this into a truly remarkable rock version with a wonderful 60’s flavor, that is absolutely spectacular, beautiful and stunning here. The vocals and harmonies are nothing short of incredible. I’ve heard this song in various forms over the years, but this one just completely blows me away and captivates me like no other. I adore Mona and Lisa’s “Walking In The Air”. It’s like how the Beach Boys transformed Chuck Berry’s Sweet Little Sixteen into a magnificent Surfin USA.

Silent Night is one of the most well known popular Christmas carols, maybe too well known to the point it lost it’s luster with me in the last few years. Maybe overplayed at every Christmas event. Just like on every track of this album, Mona and Lisa breathed new life into it for me. From the gentle classical guitar lead in, I knew this one was something different and special, and it is indeed. After a long beautiful instrumental guitar lead in, those beautiful MLT signature harmonies come in and lifts your spirits. Like voices from heaven. They stayed true to the spiritual essence of Silent Night giving this song the beauty and grace it deserves. I love Silent Night again, the Mona Lisa Twins Silent Night that is!

I could go on and on, but thought I’d highlight some tracks on this album that immediately stood out to me, but every song on this album just shines brilliantly. This is honestly the best Christmas album I ever heard or owned, because MLT didn’t just rearrange some classic Christmas songs to sound Christmassy like so many Christmas albums out there do. This is an album that was really years in the making, as MLT released one new awesome Christmas song each year for the past many years. What stands out is the musical attention to detail, creativity, and quality of production that went into this album. Something only master song writers and musicians can do. Every song is rewritten in Mona Lisa Twins unique style, and they sound refreshed, new and revamped. The same kind of skill and perfection that went into their Beatles and 60’s covers went into this Christmas album. It’s a creative artistic achievement with a lot of variety and musical depth from traditional to contemporary, and their first original Christmas song is a true gem transporting you into the beauty of the Christmas spirit so effectively. It’s a magnificent Christmas album, and every single track is remarkable!

I received the email for the MonaLisa Twins Christmas Album and downloaded the music like this morning. Been listening all day. AND then checked the regular mail and the CD came today! November 1st! I wish more businesses were a pleasure to deal with like the Wagners.

I always thought Santa Claus was an old, fat, drunk guy (the rosy cheeks and laughing at everything gave it away) from North [New] Jersey. Turns out it’s actually two very talented Austrian girls, and their amazing parents, from Liverpool. Who knew?

Their wonderful Christmas Album is everything I want Christmas to be. So what if I get coal again this year. My Christmas is already groovy!

    Most heartfelt thanks

    George

Holy Cow! Does not even come close to describing your ‘Christmas’ Album.
Your Original song All I Want Christmas To Be is the best original Christmas song since John and Paul’s individual singles. You have captured the true thoughts of everyone’s wishes. Its amazing to know if alot of it was written from your experiences and that you captured it so perfectly.
Santa Baby is a wonderfully Cute expression of your dream gifts ?. Even Mona feels left out on the Gibson.
So this is Christmas is a wonderful Caribbean flavor to it. Walking In The Air is perfect with a 60’s beat. And The classic Silent Night rounds out the Album perfectly.
Everyone will Have A Merry Little Mona and Lisa Christmas all their own.
Thank you Ladies and your magnificent team for this Dynamic Album. You are the best.
The personalized inscription blew me away and left me with all the warmth and love with many tears flowing. Thank you from the bottom of my heart????❤???

      Mona Lisa Twins – Christmas

I have had CD a few days but not played it up to now. I so wanted to leave playing the CD until … Christmas! I could not help myself though. Like a child searching hiding places or tearing a corner on a gift to peek inside, I had to play the CD.

I’m going to do a track by track assessment and make notes below.

Too long, did (will) not read. In short, MLT Christmas is a wonderful mix of charmingly covered Christmas songs and, the first track, a heart warming original. Grab yourself a hot Glühwein (alcohol free for me) and snuggle up in a blanket next to a roaring fire then put on the CD and enjoy this marvellous yuletide treat.

It’s kind of difficult for me to review such well known and loved songs but I’ll give it a go.

All I want Christmas to be

Reminiscent of the wonder and delight of childhood Christmas, this is such a heart warming song one may be tempted to call it twee – but in the nicest possible way. The twins have done themselves proud here and produced what, for me at least, could become a classic Christmas staple.

Have yourself a merry little Christmas

This is a very rock ‘n roll version of the song sometime crooned! Yet the sentiment is still there. I simply adore the way the girls cover this song making it vibrant and, somehow, smooth at the same time.

Peace on Earth / Little drummer boy

Many will remember Bing and David singing the song. Unpopular as some may find this and as fantastic as Crosby and Bowie are, I find this rendition by the twins far superior. The harmonies are spot on and in some way the song just seems more sincere sang this way.

      Wonderful Christmastime

Sir Paul, this is undoubtedly your song, hands down and chips in. So, when I write about how good this cover is please; take it well! The twins are a bit ‘cheeky’ on this track and the fun really comes through. The tune is excellently played and the girls sing it so sweetly. This is another track by the twins that I would choose over the original every time. Sorry Sir Paul.

      Snow falls softly at night

A pedant may point out that the title of this song could, or should, be ‘Snow falls soft in the night’. Phew! Got that one out of the way! It does not matter. For me this song is best ‘auf Deutsch’* and I’m so glad the girls started it that way. This interpretation has such a wonderfully warm guitar which sings in itself. In shortness and simplicity this song excels as do the girls in this, almost country, version.

      Winter wonderland

Wow! I thought I was going back to the fifties, never mind sixties with this one! (Yes I know it’s from the thirties). There is a kind of a chirpy, funny lilt in this version. The tune is, as it should be, jaunty, catchy and very well performed. The girls sing this song as if it were made for them.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year

Cheery, marvellously harmonic, fun, softly rockin’ – what else is to be told? This is, as the girls, simply charming.

      Walking in the air

This is an upbeat version of a classic. The girls do really well at spicing up traditionally slow songs. With clear and precise singing, even at this speed, the voices of the girls mix exceptionally well here. Yeah! This cover is different but definitely not in a bad way.

      Santa baby

This Eartha Kitt classic has been covered by many with mixed results. This version does not disappoint. The ‘and me!’ near the start is quite fun. The list asks for instruments in a modern twist. The girls have been ‘angels all year’ (with dark wings maybe – I jest). Another cheeky and fun version of a song that was, in this instance, tongue in cheek anyway.

      Happy Xmas (war is over)

An almost carnival working makes this cover very interesting. This song always seemed somewhat sombre (though good that way) to me and it is nice to hear it covered in a more upbeat manner. Some may not like this party style cover but I think it every bit as good as the original.

      Silent night

So! This is another song I really like sang ‘auf Deutsch’. Just the way I am! That wrote; I really like it sang in English too – possibly my favourite carol. How nice the guitar start of this song is. The performance here is quite moving. I have to write; very well done with this cover MLT.

*Though my skills with the German language are not the best, my sister living in Germany assures me that I did well to use ‘auf Deutsch’ in the above! Corrections on a postcard to…

In short then; Great album – buy it and be happy.
